Hi everyone. My wife passed away at the age of 40 suddenly in September. I have been lost, depressed and don't know what to do. She had an accident in July and broke her ankle real good and her shoulder. She had to have surgery on the ankle to have a pin and 6 screws put in. Surgery went well but she had no weight bearing and no range of motion so pretty much bed ridden for a few weeks. So she had to stay on,the hospital for 4 nights after that and then,2 weeks in a nursing/rehab facility because of all the stairs in,our house. I was there all i could be, then she finally came home was doing in home pt and getting better all,the time. I was going into the office for half days coming home to get her lunch and other things she might need then working fom home the rest of the afternoons. She was just released for range of weight bearing the previous week and then on the following Tuesday she was released for full range of motion ,and had pt for the first time with full range of motion . She was doing great even doing the stairs with little help, it was so great. That night I went to bed at 10 and she was watching tv in the spare bedroom at 11:30 she yelled my name she was breathing hard and I called 911 the paramedics took her to the hospital and I was right behind them. An hour later they took me info a private room and the dr came in and told me. I never felt so bad in my life. It was 1 in the morning and I could not get ahold of anyone. I relive this night over and over and over. I don't want to but I think i have some ptsd from this as well. I love her so much and miss her. She was the reason i lived, the reason I did anything. It hurts so much. I would guess you would understand. Thank you for allowing me to tell my story. The real bitch of it is that our primary care dr. Told us to ask the surgeoun for a stronger blood thinner instead of just aspirin, which we did a week before this happened and he denied the prescription.

Garry, if you see this message, I just read your story. My husband just died on Nov. 21st. How is your life different now 2 years?

I am so sorry. If the love you have for your wife defines who you are, then so be it. That's perfectly fine. And there are no easy fixes to the deep pain you are experiencing. My husband died suddenly, no warning in March, 2018. We were married 45 years, and he was only 66. I know the pain, it felt like my heart was ripped out of me. It sounds like there is a little guilt you are feeling about what you could have or should have known or done. Quit blaming yourself. Your wife would not want you to do that, and it's not healthy. Instead, focus on the wonderful moments you shared. It's weird, but my husband said the same thing to me, he lived for me and I filled his life. Though I could look back and say what if I knew or did this, I would be just making myself bitter and sick. You loved your wife deeply in life. Love her in death, and do whatever it takes to know you are experiencing and feeling normal. You are not going crazy. You will be fine. Just take it a day at a time. God bless, I will pray for you. Your hurting network friend, Jax10
