When I was 15 I got pregnant by my fiance' of 2 years,my lil girl was born at 26 weeks gestation.She weighed 2 lbs 10 oz and lived for 12 days.I had been a member of our church since 10 yrs old (never missed a Sunday or wednesday service) and I was SHUNNED by almost every member of the church.Our little tiny town had 2 churches and 1 bar.The bar sent me flowers,paid for my daughter's funeral and headstone for her grave and treated me like a young woman who needed help.The church showed no love or compassion.Maybe that is why I do not go to church but I do read my Bible and I am a very spiritual person.But I still have days where I think I might just go to hell in a handbasket too.

The first church I went to let a decan get away with sexual abuse. Was trying to pay for girls to have sex with him. I left that church but had other issues with faith till about a year ago.

I have absolutely no use for organized religion for the exact reasons you have been describing here. My ex was abused by a priest when he was just a child, situations like lisal described, my so-called Christian Southern Relatives who would never let an Afro-American in their home, and were "outraged" when I spent 7 years with a Native American who practiced Native Spirituality. Hypocrites One and All!!

I dont attend a church right now. They are hipocrites. My last church said that you dont need doctors. I had cancer growing in me. My husband is an EMT and has saved lives with medicine. I dont buy that shit of just praying and it will go away. I had fucking cancer! Now I cant have children. but now I study with Jehovah's witnesses and found so much faith and love of Jehovah with them.

hi, yes i experienced it when i was divorcing my first husband, pregnant with a child fathered my a member from or church who was also married and seperated but not done the divorce part and engaged to my second husband all while my dad was the pastor of our church. as a result, my father stepped down as pastor and our family moved to a different church. i quit going altogether. now that child of mine is 14 and i am divorced a second time. and realize that blame of others and/or of God is not the responsibility of them. it's me. once realized this, i seek out God and church more now. i am changed inside for the better i believe.

WHAT PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH ABOUT MOST CHRISTIANS IS THAT THEY FOCUS ON PEOPLES SIN INSTEAD OF JUST LOVING PEOPLE REGUARDLESS. BACK IN THE DAYS OF THE BIBLE, THEY WERE CALLED PHARISEES AND SADUCEES AND THEY STILL EXIST IN CHURCHES ALL OVER THE WORLD TODAY.



OF COURSE, THERE ARE ALSO THE UNBELIEVERS WHO ALSO SAY YOU CALL YOURSELF A CHRISTIAN AND YOU JUST CUSSED OR DID THIS OR THAT.


JESUS PAID FOR ALL SIN TO TAKE IT OUT OF THE EQUATION. SO PEOPLE COULD JUST LOVE AND ACCEPT PEOPLE FOR WHO THEY ARE. JUST DON'T HURT NO ONE AND IF YOU DO JUST APOLOGIZE AND MOVE ON.

GzusThug, you are so right about churches! I was born and raised Southern Baptist who didn't believe in divorce, but yet they married the ministers sister who'd been divorced but refused to marry my brother who'd been divorced! Hypocrites! I myself have attended baptist, methodist, catholic, church of God (don't ask me?), and MORMON churches. My ex-fiance was a 'malchastic priest' in the Mormon church yet living and sleeping in the same bed with me! He even baptised me! He lied to the church and told them we slept in different bedrooms and they used to come to my house announced to see what we were doing and they would call and ask me was I still smoking and drinking tea! I finally had enough of being in that weird cult and left it for good. I find myself of no particular religion, but I believe in Jesus and God and the Holy Ghost and I also believe whatever you put out in this world is what comes back to you. Hence you put out bad that's what you get and what you put out good comes back to you. God is an understanding and forgiving God, and Jesus didn't die on that cross for nothing. He did it so that despite our humaness and mortal bodies and minds we could live on after this life with him and the Father.

Sorry I took up so much space, but I was on a roll. Moral of the story? Just be the best person you can possibly be and treat others with love and respect and pray to the Father daily for strength and direction. That's what I'm doing now thanks to a wonderful friend I made here at DS. I had lost my faith and reason to live, and she held a mirror up to my face and knocked the sense back into me. I grew up In a very legalistic home where the order of the day was to cause every one to feel great shame for everthing they did. Being that I'm bp it didn't work out for me very well. I had a meeting with my currrent pastor and I told him that I resented the church for the way I had been treated in the past, I think it was good the that I made myself heard I think we all should, I would also agree that i have no use for organized religion, but I don't believe that christianity itself is a religion, I think allot of ppl mix that up.

Does being told "Renounce your sins and we will accept you back into the church. We will pray for you." from a Roman Catholic Priest...(after I told him I was a lesbian)...count?
