“Repent and be baptized!” the preacher yelled from the street for everyone in the neighborhood to hear.
“Oh yeah, I’ve heard that one before,” the young man thought. He briskly turned a corner on the street to go a different direction. Just then, a feeling of warmth came over him. It grew stronger and stronger. He couldn’t understand it. “Such amazing love!” he cried out loud.
All of a sudden he began to weep. He stopped on the street and put his hands to his face. He felt the sadness in the secret places of his heart surge up from his belly. He was remembering all the horrible things he had done in his life. Immediately he felt a great sorrow. He remembered the picture on his grandmother’s wall of Jesus standing at the door and knocking.
“Yes, Jesus, yes! Be the LORD of my life! Forgive me and show me the path my life should take! Teach me to obey you!”
You see, Bobby had once asked Jesus into his heart when he was eight years old at the urging of his grandmother. Years after his grandmother died he would mutter to himself, “What good did it ever do me to ask Jesus into my heart? I asked God to help me in this situation and that, but nothing turned out the way I wanted it to!”
But this time it was different. He truly repented and experienced godly sorrow. He wanted to stop doing the things he knew were wrong. Once he truly realized what Jesus had done for him, he wanted to obey and live for Him only. He began thanking God for all the trials in his life, because now he knew there was a purpose for every one of them.

This reminds me of soooo many times I have heard the "but, Jesus...." excuse.
There must be an acceptance of trust in Jesus. There must be an acceptance that Jesus knows the end product.
When God closes the door, quite knocking.
He has something better for you.
this young man had to be able to get past his old issues, before he could allow God to work inside him.
And when he finally did..........
God is good!!!
