The Tea Room Community Group
This is a private group by invitation only. It is a group for those who have a loved one with a brain injury. This group was not founded by me but I will serve as the founder temporarily as one of the first members.
You all don't know me very well, so I feel the need to preface this rant with the fact that I love my son. I spend hours and hours researching things that will help him, I cry silently when I see him treated poorly, I light up when I see smile transform his face.
But, darn it, sometimes, I just don't like him.
Like today. Every time I tried to engage BC, I got:
"I hate it when Mom deals. She is so annoying when she calls out the cards." (this after playing Texas Hold 'Em with him -- and I hate poker)
"Can't we just f***ing sit down so I can eat?" (after taking him to the mall to get him out of the house and buying him lunch at the food court)
"My money is my money. You don't have to know how much money I have. It's none of your business." (after begging me for $2.25 for a Pepsi, then returning with $1 change and asking if he can keep the dollar because he 'has no $' to which I said, 'I thought you said you had a thousand dollars saved last week?')
Writing this down, it sounds so trivial, but it's just constant. Everything I do annoys him, and nothing I do is right.
I tell myself that he's 20 *and* brain injured. Often that works, but not today.
Today, I called him an a**hole, got up from the table, and walked away from the food court.
Now of course I feel guilty.
Sorry -- I'm venting -- but sometimes I feel so inadequate.

Wade is learning that when he is out of turn with attitude to think how he has made the other feel and will extend apology with out prompting

With this custody case we are going through, it jus boggles my mind how she can not see all we have done for her, yet still can be so rude. Things are better as far as her learning that she can not smoke pot ever again, she can not trust every one she meets, and that maybe, just maybe her parents aren't so stupid after all.

We do have good periods, right now is one of them. But I am always feeling like I am waiting for the other shoe to drop, so to speak. I had no idea when the doctors said that my son would have "some personality changes" really entailed. We were not prepared for all this stuff. I wish that the doctor would have sat us down and gave us the truth and not white washed it. I think I could have avoided a few problems that we have had to deal with, like drug use for a start. But live and learn.
