Spent the better part of my day in the ER with my son. He has been having horrible headaches and was feeling very unsteady and his vision was bad. Has not slept for 3 nights or been able to eat because he has been feeling so crummy. They did a CT Scan and his head is good, no brain bleeds. But that does not explain the headache. The hospital wont give him any pain meds because of his drug addiction. They did give him antibiotics for a possible bronchitis. I think that they just gave him that to make him feel like they were doing something. He had opiates in his system....a big no-no. He told the nurse ahead of time that he had gotten some Norco's from a friend because he could not stand the head pain any longer. Then he proceeds to get a bit pissed because they are treating him like a druggie. I dont understand what the damn big deal is about giving him pain medication. He was told by the neurosurgeon from the get go that he would probably have to take pain med the rest of his life. I do honestly believe that if they would have treated him like they said they would he would not have ever resorted to buying street drugs. So he puts up with the daily headaches that would make all of us sick like they are nothing. But then the bad ones come and he gets no relief. I am just confused as to what to do. I do think because he is on public assistance that has made getting good treatment near impossible. Doctors dont care because they know that they are not getting paid much. Maybe I am wrong but it sure feels that way. I watch them treat him like he is a piece of crap.

I am just exhausted. My daughter in law said that I should take him to a pain specialist. Any ideas????
