Good morning, hens...
I'm not working today so it's sort of a treat. I've worked just about every Saturday morning for the past 11 years. When I as at JCP, I worked all day Saturday and every other Sunday! I really don't feel up to workingat all, but that's not yet an option.
Last night I made a streusal coffeecake with chunks of apple and a drizzle of glaze. I brought a plateful to my tenant this morning. He told me that I had a gift after eating a huge amount of apple crisp the day before. That certainly is a motivator to keep the treats coming. He's so sweet and shows no bitterness for the fact that brain surgery left him half paralyzed. It's very humbling...
I have some dishes and general cleaning to do, but I'm hurting pretty bad so I refuse to rush! It's a good day to be in puttering...more rain and gloom.

89FNo energy, just going to do whatever. Sandra, It's hard to move at a certain time in life. You've been in your home forever, at least you'll be able to travel to the beach and enjoy. Oh, we did hear Boris Johnson's tenure ended due to a series of ethics scandals, accusations of dishonesty and a final collapse of government support that forced his recognation. What he didn't do like the...

88FWhat I do like is early morning clouds and then they disappear and the sun comes out. That was it's cooler in the morning. I'm sitting here looking out the window at the hummingbird with the river and dike as a back drop. It's hard to invision ever leaving but I'm also a realist with aging, especially when the luncheon we had with thirty former classmates on Monday. Sandra, we get news of...

My mom had a cake recipe/ chocolate....made with cocoa cola that I may try this weekend. I'll let you know how it turns out :)
It's a sat. Kids are home of course and I have already had one major confrontation with my son. Dreading the whole weekend:( I wish he would out grow this sooner than later.
43 degrees outside this morning....62 in the house so I broke down and turned the heat on. Sure hate to start those expensive heat bill already but I just can't take the cold.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.
Hugs and clucks
Cherry, i used to work every Saturday for years and i hated it, i vowed never again, but alas i think i will have to bite the bullet when i get a new job next year, as shop work is probably my only option and i cant see them willing to let me work only Monday to Friday.
We've been to town to have a look round and pick up a few bits. After lunch we spent a bit of time in the garden.
Not much else going on.

dixie, i had a development psych prof who said teenagers job description was to be a pain in the a$$. i feel for you!
it's pretty chilly and breezy here and overcast. i made it to the grocery store, so i can make corn bread, then the butcher was putting out fresh pork chops, so i'll get those going soon. i'd love to share, but i don't know if there's anyone here. maybe my new friend will want to come over. that will be motivation to get busy since my pain is fairly well-controlled today.
happy weekend, hens!!
Nice cool weekend here. Waiting for husband to head out for our ranch. I'll stay home and enjoy the time alone, it has been a hairy two weeks.
I too hate to turn on the heat, but it is better as the kids are grown. My daughter was the worst, cranking up the heat and standing by the vent! I can take the cold and just put on a sweater or light a fire.
Cherry, that sounds like a special tenant and he is lucky to have you!
Dixie, boy i feel for you and the son thing. I thought mine was gone forever, but now at 23 he is a very sweet man. I know my limits with him and he with me something we never figured out in his teens. They push you away and you just remember that sweet little boy that needed you so. My saying i got for his room was "If your going to act like a turd go lay on the lawn". He did not think that was funny!
So the day is mine and i'll enjoy it, check out the pumpkins in the garden, water the few plant that are still thriving. We have not had rain for months and I think we have had one frost so plants are slowing down.
Boy an i wordy!
Hus to all

Janie I like to hear you talk. Nice for you to have some time for yourself. I agree when our boys grow up they can become our friends. I like the go lay on the lawn. We are getting the rain you need.
Serenity your meal sounds good. Cornbread and beans especially. Today has been a soup day for me. Tomato Basil and grilled cheese.
Empathy I can always picture you in your garden as I have seen the photo you posted. I have worked the shop thing but didn't have to work on Sundays. I worked at a sewing center and sold sewing machines and sergers. It was nice because I could play with the machines when it was slow.
Dixie today is same here on temp. Damp and cold. Baking a cake will at least heat up your kitchen and the house will smell yummy. I have the cola recipe somewhere and have never tried it. Glad Bonnie is doing well.
Cherry your tenant sounds sweet. I hope you have had a good day of puttering. You work so much .
Clucks and hugs to all
