I"m afraid to speak up, in case the doc pulls the meds (that are hardly working but at least it is something that I understand and can work with in my daily life), but when I speak up it is brushed off as age or hormones and there is nothing that can be done, so I don't speak up at all and nothing changes. But like you, we have to keep control of the issues for the income.
I take codeine almost daily and percocet the odd time and I notice that the quantity does coincide to effect my sleep pattern for sure. (and Imitrex for migraine almost everyday) Then when I"ve had enough nights of tossing and turning, I take a muscle relaxer, cyclopbeben (sp?) and Ativan which usually helps me sleep through the night.
I don't want to get addicted to the Ativan and muscle relaxant so they don't work any more, so I will only take it a few nights a week, but I figure if I get a few night of good sleep, then I can survive.
It's a balancing act for sure. If' I've been taking too many codeine in a row, I will take the hit go without until I just can't stand it any more. Suffer today, for tomorrow. But, that is my current situation and my fear that they will say "no more codeine".
I do believe that I should have a talk with my new neurologist and tell him more, and include my fears, but I'm building up my courage to do so.
You are justified in thinking 2 - 3 hours is not normal for your age, especially for a working person.
