Okay, I know, its just a kitchen, but for me its a huge deal. I struggled as a single mom to buy a friggen house 4 years ago in a really tough market and thought I would never accomplish that. I live in a small older townhouse that looks really unspecial on the outside, but inside it is nice, except the kitchen is really old and seriously tired.

For years I've been telling myself that its not worth going in debt to fix it and to just live with it, but damn it, I work so damn hard that I finally said......just do it, you have a solid job. It's going to cost $6,000 (and this is a very small place) but my line of credit is low interest and well....today the guy is coming in to do the measuring and later I'm going to do the final purchasing at Ikea.

My son's girlfriend, Allegra, who I adore jumped in and offered to help repaint and help with the colors and back splash tile and my heart is bursting with joy at doing that project with her.

So much joy at having made this decision. Soon the rotten bumpy counters will be replaced with smooth clean acrylic counters of my colour choice. I've rented dumps all my life. I still can't beleive that this little place is all mine. It really is, all mine.
