OMG...I'm shaking mad!
His Parents are evil, users. They stuffed my trash, parked on my lawn, encouraged Darryle to drive and then left him with an electric heater to burn my house down with. You all know that story.
So this asswipe just came to my door demanding his heater back. I said as long as it wasn't going back in Darryl's apartment. I asked him if he'd heard the whole story. He finally admitted he hadn't.
So I told him what I found last Sunday and that my house would have burned down if I hadn't investigated. His expression never changed (ugly) and all he could say was...'I've been through a fire'. WTF? So I should???
He only agreed to not bring it back to the apartment if I didn't limit Darryl's heat!!!!! It's set for 70 degrees and he has radiant heat in the floor along with a very modern, efficient radiator...which he blocks with his putrid couch!
I just spoke to my Daughter-In-Law, who runs their huge apartment building in town and she said if heat is included, I'm only forced to provide 65 degrees. So he's getting a deal with 70!!!
Anyway...his Father, whose name isn't on the lease, said he's going to report me to Section 8 Housing. I know he won't get anywhere, but I am so upset that every muscle in my body is tense. I really don't need this crap!

Well, hun, you know the idiot has idiots on his side and when the idiots start acting like jerks, its time to watch your step. As agrivating as it is, get a daytimer and start documenting everything. If I was in your shoes, I would try one last ditch effort at diplomacy while this is the young stage, if you feel up to it.
When I had calmed down I would visit him or call him up for tea, talk to him about the heat and your concern over his well being (throw him a bone but be in control of what you can offer) and then I would end on a positive note of working together, not allowing others to rap on your door and make demands, and being stern in the focus of what you want, but letting him think you care.
Use the fact that you are both handicapped of sorts to make a common bond. Or maybe you know and have tried all of this and I'm just typing for nothing. Hugs all the same, hun

I just got a return call from the Housing lady...I love her! From our talk last week about the near disaster, she was already familiar with my situation. She said that when heat is included, I am required to provide a minimum of 65 degrees if it's less than 55 degrees outdoors. She said he's getting a good deal!
His Father hadn't called to report me...yet, but she's ready for him!!!
Now...if I could get this neck pain under control. You know we carry our stress in that area...mine's full.
