Minor rant about selling snake oil

I heard a commercial on the radio this morning that got me pretty annoyed. This woman's testimonial about this fabric that takes her 'pain' away when she wears it. They were selling this clothing that is supposed to help alleviate something like arthritic or muscular soreness.

Now, I am the first to be all over people trying to find creative and innovative ways to solve problems. These are the things that propel into future breakthroughs. What pisses me off is the sell afterwards.

I highly doubt a piece of cloth at this stage will stop "pain". Ache, maybe, but PAIN?! Just because you can find someone who will say those things doesn't make it right. If such a fabric existed, it would be all over the medical journals. Then you are targeting the stupid, weak and frankly the desperate (which I have been all of at one time).

I just had to have my rant this morning.

So true. They prey on the ones that need help the most. And so many will fall for what they say. It's so discusting.

Rant all you want........we are here for you.

You may feel desperate to find ease from pain........but please never think of yourself as stupid or weak. That is not you!

Thank you for ranting. I get very upset by snake oil salesmen myself. If there were such a thing that did what it claims, I would have it. I am also desperate to receive relief. If it works I seek it out. Not prone to falling for these idiotic commercials.

    88FWhat I do like is early morning clouds and then they disappear and the sun comes out. That was it's cooler in the morning. I'm sitting here looking out the window at the hummingbird with the river and dike as a back drop. It's hard to invision ever leaving but I'm also a realist with aging, especially when the luncheon we had with thirty former classmates on Monday. Sandra, we get news of...
