good morning, dixie. i'm so glad you're getting to spend time with granddaughter. very special for you both. i recall when you were losing chickens and it was terrible. there are so many critters out there. glad this hen house is safe.

TCM is showing oscar nominated or winners all month since the academy awards are later this month, so i'm having a movie weekend and i'll manage to do a few dishes and other tidying as i can. i stayed up until
2 am watching gone with the wind, so i know a nap is in the mix, too.

Yes that hen/ skunk story was great.
Dixe, at Mom's she has raccoons. On night last visit we were sitting at dinner and I happened to look up. Two raccoons walked across the deck in to the garage. Mom freaked, we laughed. They smelled the dog food we brought for our dog. They are very aggressive.

The winds were tremendous yesterday roofs, barns and trees blowing away. Then rain. Hubby had to repair the firehouse roof today, in the rain.
I baked 3 lemon meringue pies, lot of work in my not remodeled kitchen. One for our dinner with cousin tonight. One for daughter and family and one for my dear friends family.
Off to moms next week, but waiting for news on friends service. I'm hoping and thinking they'll wait till spring. Around here people wait till spring as the ground is frozen. Also it will be a celebration of life and outside is what she loved.
Seren, believe it or not...I have never seen Gone With the Wind. Mom talked about it alon but I have yet to see it.

Yes Janie we have opossums and raccoons . We had a dog named Bear and he would bark and bark at the possum because it would play dead and not move. He wanted it out of his yard. If we didn't empty the dog dish at night the raccoon would come and also my husband had to learn to keep the dogfood bag in a closed tub. Your pies sound so nice. Many eggs for the meringue on the pies. My goodness you had high winds.

Serenity movies sound good. I have not seen Gone With The Wind. I have been to the sight in Georgia where they filmed it. Read the book. Another movie called Cold Mountain very good. Hope you are feeling better and had a nice nap.

Kim I know you enjoyed the baby overnight. I am sure you will have needed a nap today.

My oldest and his girlfriend and my two grandchildren came by and kept me company awhile. Hubby should be home soon from the dance he went to with our youngest granddaughter. I talked to them on the blue tooth in the car and they really had a good time. Only grandfather that danced. Love my man.

And Gone with the Wind, I've watched that so many times and I never rewatch movies. Classic for so many reasons. History in filmography, culture at time of movie and portrayal, story line, back story line, costume....list goes on.

Yeah to dancing granpa. I went dancing last night for four hours and there were many people of all ages there. A young guy in his twenties kept following me around with puppy dog eyes it was kind of embarassing. Then I tore up the floor with this woman who I thought she was beautiful. Platnum blond. We brought in other single dancers and had a blast and after the last song were saying good byes and some people thought we were sisters !! I was very flattered. The woman invited me out to dance with her at another location tonight so that is where I' headed soon.

hippy, it's just precious that your dear hubby went to the dance and danced. he is a treasure! sounds like you had good company, too. i have read and seen cold mountain. love it, but an entirely different perspective. you might enjoy the education of littletree...about a boy who lives with his grandparents in the mountains.

Hi Hens,

I am so sorry I have not been around. I will try my best to reply to everyone hopefully tomorrow if I a feeling better. I've been in the bed for the last two days with the worst stomach ever!!! One of the problems is that I can't eat anything so I went two days without a single bit of food so it gets confusing how my stomach could hurt so bad. To say nothing about not one bit of energy either.

Hubs bought me some Boost today and it was difficult to get down because of my swallowing issues but I did manage to drink some.

Wishing everyone a good day tomorrow. I am going to try and get some sleep hopefully without my stomach growling.
