Kids.
My son went through a period where he was truant so much they were threatening ME with jail. Now..I took him to school, and watched him go in. What more can a parent do?
Anyway.. he's still alive today.. as am I. ( And I never went to jail over it.. although I did get to meet with half the school board and the D.A. :-) :-)

Hugs to you Dix. SERIOUS hugs. Just last year I was going through the same things wondering where I went wrong with such a child. I couldn't drag him out of bed to save his life, he would lie about it, we would battle over it....well you know, you are going through it. Now!, my son is working at a job that he loves (apprentice mechanic) and hasn't missed a day from work or been late once and it has been 6 months. I can't beleive it is the same kid.

Just last night Andrew was talking about his 16 year old son and all of a sudden he just wants to sleep and I thought, OMG, here is where it begins. These guys can't help it!!!! It's just a cycle.

Hang in there. Everything can change in a year and the love of a mother is never wasted.

Well...damn. They can't just make it easy for us! I'm surprised they would go after him at 18. Hope he gets straightened for you!

Yeah, agree with the others. Personally I think some boys get to a point when they have outgrown school and the academic side of it. They need a different structure and like enig said "work" has been the making of her son. Just because a young man skips school, it doesn't mean he wont make anything of himself in the future, it just means he's outgrown school.
Lets face it... we all had to find ourselves when we were teenagers! I wouldn't go back there again would you?!!


Valentines .... that falls on Saturday this year which is handy. Weve been out on valentines before for an evening meal, but it was so unromantic as they added extra tables, everyone was crammed in like sardines.
I have in the past cooked a meal and made the table nice with candles and such but then..... I live with my elderly parents and it does kind of spoil it when your dad comes in to make a cup of tea lol.
maybe we will have out together instead...

hi everyone ..got up today and thought it was Friday .....lol ....I had a bath in my new fold up bath tub from China ...this afternoon .....there is a zipper top so just my head sticks out ..so the water stays hot ...even the parts that aren't under water are warm .........I told my h a few times I realy mised a bath since we redid the bathroom and just have a shower now so he bought me this .....it was fun ....than later we went out to supper ...Chinese supper ..in towen ...the food was realy good and very fresh and not over cooked ........I did some crostiching ..tonight ..and we watched ....just for laughs ...they had some co ideals on .....so a very good day to day ......I hope you all had a good day .....................................................................................................................we had a light frizing rain all day now we have about to inches of snow .........it is going to get cold tomorow ....21 below 0 ................................................................dixe ............the fun of having teanagers ....I hope you son relized he needes his school ...so he doesent have to make it up later ....like mine did ......haven't planed for valintine day yet .....................................................................................................................................................................................jancam......I can't belive they threntened to put you in jail for your teanage child missing school ....they had talked about that here and the parents wouldent let that go through .....like you say all you can do is drop them of at the door and watch them go in ........happy you both lived through it .......with one of my boys I went through so much ....and he turned out prity good...he always new he was loved ..................................................................................cherry ....so good to see you here ..hope everything is good with you ....haven't heard from you in a while ..been woundering how you were doing .....but I have not been here much eather .......take care ....................................................................................................................ENIGMA...............that is how it is ...with my son one big thing was when he was a young teen he wanted to go sleep over at frends but not the friends I knew others I dident and I wouldent let him ..he told me if I have kids they are going to be able to go and sleep over at all there friends house ..I told him he could have his friends come sleep here ..that wasent good enough ...so when his son hit his early teens and wanted to sleep over at this friends houst he had never met he said no ...and had the discushion ...he called me and he said mom you will never belive what just happened I said what ..he said I opened my mouth and you fell out .....so we had a good laugh ..he said I understand so much now ..and told me he was sorry for giving me so much problems ..I just told him I love him and to just love his son .................I am so happy for you that your son is doing so well ................................................................empathy .........................you are right ...and no I wouldent want to go through it again ...since I quit in grade 10 ......and would not go back .....got married at 17 .....and don't regreat any of it .....why don't you go out and get a room and supper ..some ware quiet ...maby in your room ......it is somthing I would like to do one day ...........my h usualy byes me some cholesterol in a heart ...belive it or not it is the heart I like best ..lol ....and we stay home ....some times we have gone out for supper ..but like you I thought it was to crouded ...so we stay home ..........a day out that could be very nice ...................................................................serenity..................that is not good to have to deal with Moldova ...I get mold on my windowes ...have to be cleaning them all the time ..we are going to have to get new ones ...one day ............I hope you get rid of all the mold ..it can be very bad for your health ............that's ok I am just late ....lol ......I always seam to be last so I don't even know if anyone reads my posts ... .......................................................................................................................take care everyone ....God bless ...

Empathy, not sure what I will do for valentines. I usually do nothing but thinking I might do something this year....I'm thinking lol.

I skipped school my senior year. I skipped a class I didn't need to graduate all year long. Never got in trouble for it. Now days they are just way to strict on these kids. This new zero tolerance and alternative school for the least little offence. I know what they are trying to do but it's one of the reasons kids are hating school so much....they can't breath the wrong way. I agree with their rules I just believe in giving someone a second chance at least once. And skipping school....especially their senior year...I think they should give them 3 ...it's just so fun to skip school....who hasn't done it. I take my youngest to a home school program...you would not believe how many kids go there just because they hate the public school system! The place is packed with kids coming in for testing from 8:00 to 12:00 on tues. And then a diff. Group of kids on Thursday. I would seriously like to know how many other home schoolers there are in our county on other programs. My son knows of three other kids and they claim they are being home schooled because they hate the school system. Sad.
