Morning my lovely Hens,
It's hump day Empathy...hang in there.
Making a quick Walmart run today for cat food, clean the kitchen and wash the bed linen is what I have planned to do today. Nothing fun.
My son's dog got run over yesterday. He was pretty upset about it. All I could think was "I told you so" but I didn't say it. You can't let a dog run loose and expect nothing to happen to it especially if you live on a busy rd. I guess he thought he could do like we do. We can let dogs loose here because we live on a big farm and the cars have to drive pretty slow on this Rd. And we have very little traffic....basically just the people who live here. Where as he lives on a main rd. Ours is just like a drive way that cuts through the same rd. With houses on it, no reason for cars to come on it. Molly had already been hit once and lost a leg. He should have learned from that.
My dh may be going back on the Rd. Again. Jill is so very attached to him that he is going to try to take her with him and see how it goes. She cries and barks non stop when my dh gets out of her sight. If it doesn't work out I don't know what we are going to do. I'm afraid she might stop eating.
Well hens that's all my news, what are you girls up to today? Hope it's a good one.

88FWhat I do like is early morning clouds and then they disappear and the sun comes out. That was it's cooler in the morning. I'm sitting here looking out the window at the hummingbird with the river and dike as a back drop. It's hard to invision ever leaving but I'm also a realist with aging, especially when the luncheon we had with thirty former classmates on Monday. Sandra, we get news of...

be very careful of jill. cats have a delicate system which shuts down quickly...learned that the hard way. on the advice of a vet i gave penny meat baby food when she was having a rough time.
good luck with your outing and chores.
i'm more at peace about this meeting with the nursing home. i know i have it together and can carry it off professionally. i used to do this stuff weekly, but it's new now and i'm trying not to act like a crazy family member, so i have proper info stuffed into my head.
i've cleaned all my tupperware - my kingdom for a dishwasher! i don't do resolutions, but i am this time. if there are two bites of food left, it doesn't go back in the fridge. i still have to mop and work on my bedroom, but i'm going to do it slowly. and put a call into my dr for a sleep med. i really need one that doesn't interfere with others or have massive side effects.
i feel like if i get my home in order my mind will follow.
empathy, wishing you the best w work and hippy glad for the new thread!
MIA hens, sending hugs to you!
Busy day ahead for you both. Sorry about the dog.
Last night my son decided to give his bedroom a complete overhaul. He took out 12 bags of garbage (5 years of accumulation) and then he said, see I'm not a hoarder like those people on TV (I called him that last week). I said no, I guess you were just a slob for a while. LOL had I known to reference to a hoarder, I would have done that two years ago. We both had a good laugh at that. His room looks so adult now that all that crap is gone. I hope it stays that way.
Maybe you can help me with something. Mr Sexy has been texting me (its on mute). I don't know how to respond or what to respond or if I should respond. Ultimatley, he hurt me too much and I will never hook up with him again. I don't want to engage in a conversation because he will likely be mean. My phone doesn't have a block so that is why he is on mute. The goal is to get him to go away. Suggestions?
Blessings to you all.
Enigna, i think you answered your own question, he hurt you too much and you dont want anything more to do with him, so the answer is... ignore him, dont respond, you'll just end up in convo with him and you clearly dont want that. He cant be that thick that he cant work out from your silence its over and done with.
Silence speaks volumes...
seren, the way i see it is.... who cares if you come across like a crazy family member! He's your dad and you love him dearly and you want the best for him! Nothing wrong with that.
There's nothing like having a good sort out, it always makes me feel good, it puts your head at a more peaceful place, hope you get that feeling i get when i'm done, a sense of satisfaction: )
Dix, reading about your sons dog... i got this message from my son last night (he's staying with his GF, she has a new kitten) She loves candles and its had its whiskers burnt once already and now its tail got caught, and it makes me so cross that they are not looking out for it properly. But what can i say, its not my cat, i text back that they really ought to put things like that out of reach. That poor kitten has been fallen over, burnt twice, had cat flu and had the runs, all in the space of 12 weeks of its life!
I'm sure jill will make a good companion for your husband on his trips, hope it works out.
envious of hippy and her trip away! Wish i was going away!
hugs
empathy, i'd be pretty tempted to take that kitten away. she deserves to be taken care of. when i left a relationship with a person who had cats i took them. he wasn't a mean person, he just wasn't nurturing. i say set them straight or tell them to get a plant and see if that lives. i used to do that with my clients, then they could work up to a fish which is how i ended up with an aquarium in my office!
i've worn myself out using up nervous energy today. i'm really scared about getting the CT. just praying nothing horrible is there again. i'm almost 10 years cancer free.
i think i'm as prepared as i can be for tomorrow. just praying for good sleep and low pain, so my editor will be on.
hippy, happy travels. and good wishes to those who may just be peeking in.
Dix.sorry about Molly. Busy streets and unsupervised pets not good. I bet Jill and T on the road would be good. She has made herself his. I know you will miss hubby.
Serenity I am the same way. House in order, mind in order. Also problems are solved as I put my house in order because it is a mindless task. These days it is more difficult with the pain so I have to bite off smaller pieces. Yes you are getting seasoned on the care issues of your father.
Angela wonderful news in acquiring a son heading into adulthood. Your story so brought back memories of mine. They used to clean their rooms when I was gone. Of course they didn't want me to see. Love the hoarder part. Oh Mr. Sexy...what do you do. Putting him on mute is good. His idea of a relationship and yours aren't the same I gather.
Empathy your son's girlfriend needs a manual for being a pet owner. I was guilty when I got my first kitty. I had a small scented wax pot plugged in and left it plugged in at night. My kitty jumped up on the counter and got tangled in the cord and hot wax spilled all over her. She was taken to late night emergency vet and we were up all night. I spent the next day with her wrapped in a towel and a bowl of ice cubes. I used the ice cube to wet the fur and numb and then would gently comb wax out. Poor kitty made it. I learned about house kitties.
Gracie looked just like Serenity's Penny and lived to a ripe old age. I hope the girlfriend gets some sense before something really bad happens. Wish you all were going with me. I will take you in my heart.
I must get busy.
love and hugs
hippy
I love the idea to replace the kitten for a plant. Good you spoke up, Empathy.
Take a deep breath, Serenity and let yourself know that the past does not repeat itself. You have already served that chapter. Sending you good throughts and love.
Love to you all.
empathy, i had to keep a harness on penny in puerto rico and left it on here. somehow she wriggled one arm out and got an infection on july 4th when everything is closed. i was miserable with guilt, so i hope they realize little kitty is like a baby and has to be looked after.
hippy, hope you're having a good time. i'm so used to reading regulations of this sort. biting my tongue is the hardest part when they start coming out with the bs i know too well. at least they know they're being held accountable.
big hugs to all!
