Morning Hens,
This week our journal prompt is to use a quote. What is your favorite quote?
I got really aggravated at my MIL for getting on to my son for something he didn't do this week....she assumed the worst about him...my dh does this often too...jumping to the worst conclusion where the kids are concerned instead of forgiving them for their past mistakes and giving them the benefit of the doubt. I'm tired of it. In my book I don't think my kids get enough love...I think they get more criticizing than love and that should not be the case. I'm not saying they shouldn't be punished when they do something to be punished for but I am saying love should outweigh doubt and harshness on the scales!!
So I ran across this quote by Mother Teresa and I think this is the quote I will use. It made me think how true it holds in everyone's lives whether you have kids or not...if you want someone to return a feeling, kindness or peace....it starts close to the heart.
“When Mother Teresa received the Nobel Prize, she was asked, "What can we do to promote world peace?" She answered "Go home and love your family.”
Mother Teresa
We set the example. How can my kids learn generosity, forgiveness, patients, understanding, kindness, giving nature if they are not shown it? So too a stranger...if givin may play it forward.....it's never too late.
That brings me to my second quote....many think they have to do great things. Not so. My dh got mad at me sat. For making a special trip into town to take my son his football. He asked me to bring it to him because it cost him so much to drive his truck. I did it. Yes it cost me gas. So what! My son was having good clean fun!! It was an act of kindness my son will remember. It was a small thing.
Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.” ~ Mother Teresa
Maybe all you can do is share a smile with someone today.....you would be surprised at what a smile can mean to someone! And you would be even more surprised at what a smile from YOU to a family member would mean!!! I love to recieve a smile from a stranger, but let one of my kids smile for me and my whole world lights up!!! Or even if I make my mom or husband smile....it is really special . So don't forget to smile for your family because it really is extra special to them!
Spread some peace and love today:-)

a psych professor once said that the world will knock you child down enough, it's your job to build them up enough to take it. i'm glad you took him his football and he will remember that loving act. sure they need to suffer consequences of their acts, but not forever.
you sound like you're in a very good place today and i'm happy to hear your strength coming back! on the journal, do you write about it or make art about the quotes?
yesterday was a low pain, high energy day for me which is so rare and enjoyable - potting new plants and cooking both feed my spirit. storms and more storms are hovering, so i'm going to do some dreaded housework and freeze some fruit for smoothies. the storm came so fast yesterday i didn't clean my planting mess, so i'd like to get that out of the way.
hope everyone is safe and sound and can have a bright day despite the weather.
The sun is shining and the birds are singing. There is a cool breeze blowing. Unlike yesterday when the air was so heavy with humidity and everything was so very still into the night. Our news station is still running with death toll rising and I am turning it off. I cooked a pot of beans and they were good for lunch. My quote is my own. A Linda quote. Love conquers all. I believe that love can tame an unruly child, it can quiet a crying baby, it can convey to a angry stranger that there is good. Smiles are free. Use them generously.
Kim I agree with you. I am glad you are on your son's side. Every child needs parents who are on their side.
They are molded by their environment and their self worth is formed by those nearest to them.
Serenity a day of rest is in order. Be safe in the storms. Wishing for your pain to stay down. You can can look out at your flowers.
Sure missing some hens.
Good for you Kim. Never apologize for being kind!. I was in group meditation on Saturday afternoon and we covered this for a while. Negative energy swirls around the world freely, but so does positive loving energy. Like the loving kindness you all expel forward, it becomes a ripple that grows in an ocean of good intent and spreads to offset many of the bad things going on out there. You go, girls. Give without expecting nothing to come back and know that what you put out there has a domino effect of beautiful healing energy.
Thanks for sharing your experiences.
