Kim...that sounds like a lovely, thoughtful gift! Choosing her favorite color shows that you made it specifically for her. I had a similar concern about the Christmas gift I gave my Aunt. She has the money to buy anything she wants and it was a lean year for me so I found a recipe for chocolate doughnuts. She always talked about the ones her Mother used to make and how much she loved them. So I made them just for her and I think it might have been the best gift I've ever given her!

I did too much yesterday with 3 clients and lifting wood. I have my regular med check appointment later this morning and I can't put off food shopping any longer. When it's so cold I don't want to leave the house, but I have to today. We have some crazy, nasty weather on it's way for the weekend and I know I'll want to hibernate!

i need to do the same, but it's drizzling and i'm just not sleeping well in this chaos, so i don't feel very motivated myself. i'm ready to just throw things out. maybe some repairs will start next week.

Dix, i'm not your mil, but i would love a gift like that! Besides your mil knows you and if she doesn't understand or appreciate the gift, then that says more about her than it says about you. You know.. we really do worry too much about things that don't deserve to be worried about that much! In the grand scheme of things... Think about your DH and all that you've gone through and are yet to go through, then think about this gift... kind of puts things into perspective. Stop worrying, its a lovely thoughtful gift ! Plus ive seen the things you make, your clever and creative : )

I bought some boots for the snow when it arrives. Ive been promising myself year after year some proper foot wear especially for bad weather.
Also got my son some interview clothes and my mum some slippers for her birthday next week.

We have taken a road trip to Orlando and will be off the grid awhile. Celebrating hubby's birthday on a cruise out of Tampa leaving on Sunday.

I am reading about the cold and rain and sleet. The cold did catch up with us here. Not as bad but it seemed colder. Also a day and half of rain. Something (tank for well) froze at home and we have a plumber coming while we are gone. Our neighbor who watches our house will meet him.

I know I am late in game but enjoyed the mother discussion started by Carly. It is cozy to hear others views.
Mostly I identified with Carly on not knowing what day is what. Also I had phone conversations this week with two good friends and both were about their mothers.
