dixie, so sorry your son isn't well. the stomach virus is pretty awful - if it is his appendix, it's good you're at the hospital. please update when you can. i hope all turns out well.

yesterday a small miracle happened that really lifted my spirits, so it was a good and exhausting day. i have to treat penny and the apt for the dang fleas, then i'll go see a matinee in the late afternoon. pulled muscles are still screaming, but they get better as day goes on.

Janie I am going to check on Carson Valley..I hope your property isn't in danger. It can't be good for you to breath that stuff. Is your husband involved in fighting the fire or on standby?

Serenity I love miracles...small or otherwise. Fighting fleas no fun. In the year of 71 I did the same. We had them in our apartment from our little kitty. I remember riding the city bus to work and fleas jumping off me. Yep...it happened. Our central air went out in apartment and that sure brought out the little critters. We took kitty to vet and bought a foam from vet to treat carpet and then had carpet steam cleaned.To this day i am afraid of fleas. My husband treats yard every summer and all the dogs get flea preventative.

I am enjoying my little guy Romeo. He is in my lap or at my heels unless in his crate at night to sleep.
I fear we have lost our ever loving minds. My husband drove towards Galveston yesterday afternoon to pick up an owner surrender KIng Charles Cavelier. He spent the night in Lufkin and is on his way home after picking the little guy up. The young couple who had him are unable to keep him because they have a toddler and he growls at the baby. Last week I talked to her and she said she would try to work it out. They are young and I guess she just couldn't and I got a text yesterday. I really didn't want this since I had Romeo but my husband felt we couldn't let the poor guy go to a shelter or puppy mill so here we will be with four dogs. No more fostering I think.

Any plans for the long weekend or will it just be a long weekend? No bar-b-que for Janie
I will try to stay sane. We have the two foster pups and now 4 of our own plus two grandchildren

oh, hippy, you and dh have such kind hearts. i hope it works out with new doggie. i would love to foster if i had the space and a less diligent landlord. used to in nyc. it's such great work.

oh, i have a terrible flea phobia from a similar story. i wish i could explain to penny why i'm going to torture her. instead, i've been giving her soft food every evening as a treat. can't afford to have a pro spray, so i'm using several tactics...

Fire is about 100 miles as a crow flies, in Yosemite wilderness. The wind blows it here. Hubby on stand by for other fires in this valley. Have to watch out for crazies that start them on purpose. So dry here!

Serenity, so great to have been given that miracle in the midst of it all. too bad about the fleas but it is part of pets, I guess. I flea bath my dogs if they need it or not because they are so short and fleas are real bad in this region. Easy to bath a dog, but a dog is not a cat. Good luck, hun.

Feeling dark today. Yesterday I slept all day and today I'm just feeling down and in pain. I have a depression workbook so I think I will see if I can get to the bottom of this feeling. I know I've sent out many resumes and havent' heard any replies so I'm feeling disheartened. Waiting is so hard for me. My mother wants me to take her to Walmart so I might do that, just to get out of the house.
