It teaches us to become great detectives - it will try to break out and surprise us, but we immediately figure out what went wrong and reel it back in.
It teaches us to try other foods and spices to break out from our normal meat and potatoes type diets and to become better shoppers, read labels to find a food that is lower in carbs
It teaches us to become better cooks - to try other ways of baking, etc
It teaches us to try other ways to get exercise to get up and move and not become couch potatoes and to learn to like exercise
It teaches us we are not alone in our fight to control, we are members of a special club where we have compassion to others suffering thru this new journey in life.
It teaches us confidence and not fear the unknown - that we have the say in our health and we can do this. After all doctors can't help if we don't take the control first
And it teaches us humor - humor is important, we need to be able to laugh at ourselves to help control stress, etc...after all how many have tried to test their blood glucose and realize after 5 trys there is no lancet in the tester or better yet sit on a lancet to be stuck... Children with diabetes have some great humor when it comes to this and if they can do it, so can us adults
Most of all, it teaches us to enjoy life and to live it to its fullest, to tackle each conflict we may have head on so we can live life to it fullest.
