Sorry it's been so long since I've checked in or updated any information regarding my diabetes. I signed up for Obama care so now have insurance. I'm back in my little house in a larger city, so more opportunity medically.
I've been seeing an endocrinologist who is very good. My A1c was 14.5 and not doing well controlling my diabetes. My Physician is keeping a close eye on glucose levels, plus I have to report weekly either in person to see a Nurse Practitioner or I am called via telephone for blood sugar readings. I also have to call the office with any reading of 70 or lower. So I am being carefully watched and see my Dr. July 23 for blood work and more testing to find out if I'm a type 1 or 1.5.
They don't want me to lose any more weight, but exercise is vital. My Dr. would like me to get my pulse up to 125 and keep it there for an hour of exercise.
I have again changed my eating habits with help from dietitian. I have almost eliminated bread from my diet along with pasta etc.
My kidney cancer is in remission and have CT scans every 6 months. It's been a very stressful year or so.
Thank you for thinking of me through hugs and messages. Hope you all are doing well.
hello Ali and it was great to hear how you are doing and that you have a great team that is actually keeping a close eye on you. Congrats on the remission also, sending you many good wishes and hugs
Hi Ali, glad yiou feeling better dear. We miss you. Let us know what the Doc finds out, You remember I was DX at 36 with 1.5. When you know what is going on you can better control your diet and such.
Glad your CT Scans are good, wishing you more good news in the days to come.
Diabetes update....currently taking Victoza injections to stimulate my pancreas into making insulin. I'm told I will be using short acting insulin in the future, but putting it off as long as possible. Still prescribed 2,000 mg of metformin and Glimepride 8 mg daily. It really sucks being diagnosed at age 61, but then I think of all the children going through this. I guess I'm slow to accept change. lol My weight is way down due to medication, but didn't have a problem in that area to begin with. Very grateful for Obama care.
Hope this finds everyone well. I've noticed several people no longer on many of the sites.
Good to hear from you Ali and glad you are doing well dear. I know change is hard but you can do it. I have been having steroid injections so my numbers a very high. Diabetes is just a life long struggle but once you get in the groove you will do find.
Glad your CT Scans are good, wishing you more good news in the days to come.
