Let's talk Neurotin...

I am still undecided about trying this again for nerve pain. The only time I've tried it was actually for facial numbness, and I didn't like how my heart felt after one pill. Maybe I did not give it much time, but honestly, it is the only choice I can afford.

So, I posted this on the main board and got just a couple replies. Anyone here in the Coffee Shop take this drug? It's an everyday pill apparently...

Now my doc brought me up very slow....and you can regulate how much and when you take it. You just have to remember if you stop taking it start back up slow again. I was on this drug for several years and loved it other then the slowness you get but what can you take that don't have that side effect. I was hangin at 300mg then had to go as high as 900mg three times a day. Now I can get by without it but if I need it I got it!
It is doctor approved!

My dr. would definitely prescribe it... I just have to decide if it's the way to go for me...

If I understand Dr. Anne right, correct me if I wrong mom, but the body starts to stress out even if we don't feel like it in our minds. therefore the body starts to draw and tense causing pain in many areas. Then we get a little stressed at having this pain so this causes even more of a draw. So Neurontin, once built up in the body, starts to lay these muscles down. Now for me it took a long time to get everything back in order but my poor body was going through a lot. Sometimes if we are on this drug long enough the brain sort of resets itself therefore allowing us to tapper back down.

I USE NUEORTIN AND I TAKE UP TO 900MG A DAY, SOME DAYS I DONT NEED AS MUCH, BUT THESE DOG DAYS I SEEM TO NEED MORE, I ALSO TAKE BACROFREN WITH IT IF NEEDED. NUROTIN IS A GOOD PAIN RELIEVER.

I never tolerated Neurontin very well. I take Topamax instead. (And it aint cheap...about $500 a month without rx benefits) Have you asked your Doc about Elavil? That might be an alternative to look into.
