My post disappeared so I will make this short. My doc had me keep a food journal for a week and when I went back he told me to youtube/google the 21 day fix diet. I didn't order it just watched what size the containers were and I am good to go. So far 4 #'s down and that is better then up.
My cuz is on prednisone also and gained 70 #s. She does not exercise and has lost 40 #'s so far and is inspiring me. I don't understand why we lose weight on this but it could be better choices.
The 21 day fix has a protein drink which I just replace with a Costo protein drink. So far I am happy to have a chance for weight loss.
Good luck,
Joanne
I wanted to add that I know it is me who has to change but it is just so hard to do anything about it right now. The first step I think is getting mad and boy am I mad! My wife does not help sad to say. She has tried 3 diets since Jan 1st! She buys these food programs. She spends 300-400 bucks and then quits after 1 day. Drives me nuts. She doesnt seem to understand the seriousness of my health. I ve had two strokes. I am supposed to LOSE WEIGHT. Just so frsutrated.
I will look at that Joanne and any other methods anyonewishes to suggest!
Martin
Only problem with it.. it s a hard lifestyle diet ( in other words.. you wouldn't want to live on it once you'd lost weight.
Hugs

BTW by hardcore...I mean the original..not the adjusted with " good carbs".
What I like is it is a no brainer. My cuz lost weight on the 21 day fix and did like me. Just looked it up without $$ and good to go.
The one nice thing is the new popcorn that is 39 calories a cup. When I get the munchies from the prednisone I pour out 3 cups and it really has helped.
I know some have used the South Beach Diet and that can work. For me just measuring and not thinking when I cook works better. The large frozen bags of vegetables is what I use for the veggie portion. It is the easiest thing I have done and so far done the 4 #s.
Good luck!!!
Joanne
we have a program here on tv called Sit and be Fit. excersises that are done in your chair. nothing hard core but they help tremendously. i cant do much due to pain as well, but im able to do some of those on that program. maybe theres something on there for you too. i went from a size 24-16. ive been stalled for too long im with you, its time to start minusing again. we can be eachothers inspirations. all of us that need to shed some weight. id like that A Lot.
i did research and replaced alll the weight gaining meds i was on with weight lose or nuetral ones. i dont know if thats possible for you. there is hope Martin...we will figurevthis out ok. we are with you. we can do this. easy does it though ok, we dont want to shock the body, or cause more pain. theres got to be a way.
were here for you
I hope everyone hss a great day!

You have to eat healthy, often, drink water, small portions.
I think where so many of us have weight issues here, what if we all try to diet and come every week and tell how much we lost or not. Sometimes being accountableto others helps. If ananyone wants to try this, I'm game!
I hope everyone hascac
Yes, I would definitely be up for a diet together if anyone else wants to do it. I hope we can do it together and support each other. For me, the time has come. Since E was so honest, I will say today I tipped the scales at 270. That number just scared the hell out of me and made me very upset as you can tell.
I was at 245 after my brain surgery and felt reasoably well in my clothes. When my mom died I got down to 227 and that was the lowest in 10 years.
This weight today has got to go!

Champ, I wish, I had words of wisdom to share and help,... exercise can be a certain challenge when the body is riddled with unhappy,.. Sorry things are getting stressful, and how your feeling at the moment..
I read something two days ago about these two pills that help ""Shed"" the weight, without exercise or much dieting,..........(with a, hmmmm, from a mr skeptic)).
One pill was one of these new "superfruit compounds" that dissolve n gobble up the fat and weight,... taken in the morning..... then one pill at night of another compound that works in sync together with the "superfruit thingy".. you have to use both compounds to be successful... Also, think it has been clinically trailed and is successful?????? .. again Hmmm...
Cant remember the names of either products,... sorry n smack.. or even how, I, found the article while searching for car info... But the write up was cool,... people losing 15 - 40 pounds in 5 -6 weeks... Gimmick??? not sure... If,.. I find it again, definitely will post a link..
Hopes some of the Circle idea's may be of some help, to get you feeling better about the weight and get our Mr Martin Sparkly again....
Wishes are up my friend for answers...,... Cheers Seek...
I have been trying to gain weight,.. and yesterday, I weighed up at my doc appt at 65kg,. (Lbs??)) . have gone up 5kg... 8-)... I think, when we boosted (doubled) my Lyrica mid last year .. weight started... this is my heaviest, for about 15 years.. Yaaay,...... but . awww,... just so hoping it's not edema weight..
i would have smacked my dr for saying that (smaller portions). it's really hard to work out with pain and working on top of that.
i don't know about all the diets. never did try one. just no soda (esp diet) and as little processed food as possible. will your wife cooperate in cooking a little differently? i belong to a program and support group called caloriecount.com. i don't think they sell anything, but there are some good articles, recipes and support groups on it. and, of course, a calorie count program to use. i really like the site. you can also find partners there.
it's so hard to exercise in cold weather, but there are some good you tube videos. i just put in seniors b/c that's about my level.

i wish us all some luck and motivation with this.
why dont we post here daily what each of us is doin, eating and trying on our quest to shed some poundage.
like for instance, today i had one yogurt and banana after wake up half a turkey with spinach sandwich on nine grain bread. for mid day, granola bar for snack, a hand size talapia baked in oven a scoop of white rice and steammed veggie for dinner, three cups lightly salted popcorn for nite snack. lotsa ICE water in between. i like to drink six to eight ounces before each meal.
as for exercise...mom n lees home is a four level with seven stairs to each level. ive been up n down them several times so far with more to come. that and having a shower later will count as my exercise. while i sit n watch tv or use my tablet i suck in tummy as many times as i can several times thruout the day.
there you have it. lets keep this post near the top, k. this will have hundreds of posts as we keep eachother informed of our progress to encourage each other...what do all think?
im in heres to us!!!!
much love to the circle
Great idea about your "Food Diary" :)
Wish you all the best. Myself I fight to keep it on and then fight to balance it. Whacky system.
I take Lyrica which I gained weight on at the beginning but after losing 65 lbs on SBD in 2010 and then gaining it back and now being down almost 40 lbs, Lyrica doesn't seem to be a block to weight loss. I can exercise little if at all. I've got a brand new Nordic Trac treadmill right behind me in the computer room with a new TV mounted so I can even watch TV while walking. No can do with the pain I'm in currently. My weight gain had everything to do with what I ate and how much I ate plus snacking throughout the day.
Once I changed my diet, the weight began coming off. Oh and there's always the beatdown I give myself for not jumping on the treadmill and doing more to help the diet. It's a vicious cycle indeed.
And Hal and I diet together. His weight loss/gain depends on what I put in front of him. Can you and wifey diet together? Well, good luck Martini. I feel ya on this subject. Hugs
