This is their temporary home-

I have had a serious of 3 pre-rabies vaccinations and have the titer checked yearly. This is a measure of the level of rabies antibodies in your blood. If it drops below an acceptable level (1:5 as recommended by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC), a booster vaccination will be recommended.

The standard diet for most insectivorous bats in captivity consists of live mealworms. Other vitamin, mineral,
and fatty acid supplements are also necessary and are added to mealworms and the complete soft food diet

Now full disclosure---------I haven't had any rescues for over a year.. It is a great commitment of time and energy. I do miss it.

The really nice thing-----------if I get bit by a Vampire I am covered for rabies........Mwhaaaahaaa

I'm curious if you would share the actual recipe, in case I find myself in this situation. Or can I just use what I feed my baby birds that I find on occasion?

NO!!! Each bat species diet varies and it is illegal to care take yourself......must be registered. Meal worms and other supplements are what I used.

I do miss it and perhaps will once again carry around a little black velvet purse with bats. It is ever so funny when I would feed them squiggly meals worms in front of people........rather a wicked delight. MWHAHAH!!
