In 1909, William Howard Taft became the 27th President of the United States.
He lasted one term, but didn’t disappear from the public eye.
Instead, in 1921, he accepted the nomination for Chief Justice
of the Supreme Court, making him the only man to hold both titles.
Being Chief Justice served Taft far better than being president ever
did, and as it was truly his dream job. In fact, he remarked at one
point that “ I do not remember that I was ever president.”
