The Spoon is considered the kindest, safest utensil.
After all, babies begin with Spoons !
But, the Spoons have superstitions to them also.

What does it mean if you drop a Spoon a table ?


(a) You are about to have a visitor.

(b) You are pregnant.

(c) You are going to be married soon.

(d) You are going to take a trip.

spoons were the first and only utensils and i think the story goes that if drop one you'll need to pick up another for your visitor...

OK, that I did not even begin to guess....

I was told it was a fork, not a spoon. Huh. Good one!

I have one of the old boxes the young girls would put together many years ago, in it are dividers with a spoon or fork, grains, sm. covered soaps and such. I imagine the wealthier the better the items would go into their "boxes".

My mother in law gave me one, does anyone know what these are called?

do you mean a hope chest? that's what my grandmother called it.

p.s leo and trivia lovers while i was up in the middle of the night i did research on the question. there is a meaning to each piece actually - knife - man, fork - woman, spoon - child. i'd only heard the spoon one. whatcha going to do in the middle of the night?!

nope serenity, a hope chest is trunk full of blankets and such for when a young lady gets married remember? Her and her mother start collecting at any time even before she dates! in hopes she will get married in the future and she'll be ready!

what I have is roughly 15"L X 8"W
