I used to roller skate up and down the Charles River (the Esplanade as we call it) with the boot like skate and the 4 big wheels, before roller blading came out. I'd put my big boom box on my shoulder with Wild, an R&B & Soul station on loud. All the other skaters would follow me because I had the good music on. We'd skate for hours out there. Had a great time, Good memories.

Mike lol my first skate board was an old orange crate that I dismantled...took the wheels off of the old roller skates (above) screwed them on the front and back of the bottom of the crate and "Voila" I had a skate board circa 1950......:)

Yorman, that's how we built our skateboards and scooters . 1950's style.

I also got together with friends and found old boxes to sit on/in and slide down the side of this huge hill, the faster, the better!

yes gr8ful we had loads of fun and it certainly was inexpensive.......I guess we used a cardboard box instead of the "flexy".......smile:)
