Get some snow boots and foot warmers/like hand warmers. I use to walk over and over when I had them because of the pain. I don't know that moaning helped I think it was just with time it finally let up :)
The people around get tired of it because it effects their lives also. It's there in their place too. They don't feel the pain we don't but they sure feel the stress, burden, longing etc.... that we do. sorry you have this deal with on top of all the work load...
((Hugs)))
See Toni. moaning does help alleviate the pain!. Serenity said so. I googled some too Seren and found some good info. You guys both explained it very well. I know damned well that I tensed up my legs in walking thru the deep snow as I am not used to it and was concerned.
It does indeed sometimes feel like you were hit with a baseball bat. Thats why I always joke for someone to hit me with a baseball bat to perhaps reverse the pain?? I dunno. But I can feel the legs tensing today and going home after will not be pretty. Hot bath and bed. And I was a lousy husband yesterday. Crabby. So I vow to be better today.
Anyone else care to join on the convo?
Martin
hey, for better or worse, in sickness and in health...it ain't always 50/50...nice to see a guy who can actually say that though!
And, I feel that, when I do.. it's an extension of the peripheral neuropathy that I usually feel in the soles of my feet and palms of my hands.
Do you have, that you know of, diabetes, or peripheral neuropathy or neuralgia?
Much as walking in the snow started it up.. and the hot bath helped..
I'm still going to suggest trying this..
Alternating cold and hot in the shower for a while.
I feel that tense/release action caused by doing that helps with that feeling of just CANNOT be still.
Oh.. damn it.. got off track again..
I meant to say..
I think I get it as an extension of PN..
But.. also from meds.. or lack of meds.
Anywaaaay..
The switching hot/cold repeatedly for a while is the only thing that has ever helped me with it.
I'm really sorry you're exoeriencing this so badly..
It's a godaweful feeling.
Can you sleep apart from your wife when it's that bad?
Getting in and out of the shower is inconvenient..
So.. ice packs/heating pads or electric blanket?
Sorry I'm so scattered.
I'm sorry your wife's having a hard time with your pain issues..
It's nice of you to be determined to not be a crabby husband.
Hugs

So sorry you have this issue, also.
( like Raynauds I can't stand COPD on my hands when that hits.)
Some antidepressants.. and other neds.. can cause it.
( I know this event was triggered by walking in the sniw, for you..
But.. do you know of the underlying cause?
Hugs
Have you ever tried benadryl for it?
When I used to lie in a bed I noticed my legs jumping so much that it felt like I would fall out of the bed. It would wake me up out of a sound sleep sometimes. I don't remember having a lot of pain with it, but with my back being so bad, I always had pain going down my legs. I don't notice it anymore, but I don't sleep in a bed either. I sleep sitting up in a chair
I hope you can get some relief with all of this. I moan when the pain is bad. I live alone and never got married because my Ex use to yell if I slept on the couch. People who don't have psin really can't understand it. I'm sorry your wife is sick of you being in pain, but when you married, it said in sickness and health. Well? Just saying.
I hope it gets better for you
Love and hugs,
Xoxoxo

Big comforting ((((HUGS)))).
I don't feel pain from the RLS, itself, but like Mary Ellen said, her legs were already hurting, that's the way it is for me too. I just get a severe sensation of all the muscles in my legs jumping around and trying to bust out thru my skin (lol) and I can't be still. I have to get up and move around. Heat can also help a bit, but for me, ice or cold is a NO NO. I used to take Lyrica, which seemed to help, but made me retain fluid, so I was switched to Neurontin (gabapentin) and now I rarely have an attack of RLS.
I hope you find some relief, Martin. Let us know!
Hugs,
Judi
My neurologist has suggested that I have RLS. He prescribed Requip (a Parkinsons drug), which I have decided not to take due to possible scary side effects. I have tried Gabapentin. It was effective for a month or so before I had to up the dosage. It got to the point where I could not tolerate the dose needed to be effective. I am now considering Lyrica.
I'm in the same boat as you with this... pass me an oar and we'll paddle through this together.
Hugs, Vicky
