Hello all and Happy Holidays,
Been crazy at work but i wanted to share a PM appt i had two weeks ago. I have been in much pain the last 4 years and have been typically undermedicated. I have a brain injury that sends pain to all parts of my body but mostly my poor brain and legs.
A month ago i ran a day short on my meds and was really struggling. I asked the clinic to fill a day early. The nurse talked to the doctor who told her no and they basically read me the riot act. I was so upset at having to beg to stay alive.
So at my next appt last month i wrote a letter to the clinic. I rxplained my situation in detail, my work issues, sleep, headache and PTSD. I thanked them for their help and asked for their help.
Lo and behold at my next appt which was two weeks ago i met the Director of the Clinic. HE chose to see me! Basicsally he told me i had a hard life and he understands what im going thru! What ? Huh? Spank my ass and call me Charlie, he said they would handle me with care in the future.
Why? Because i wrote a letter! Amazing, wish i would have known 4 years ago,
Just thought i would share that in case it helps anybody else.

Its sad we have to advocate so much for ourselves and other loved ones. But extreme pain calls for extreme measures. Hope i didnt mean to come off wrong. Didnt mean to say i had a hard life i meant to say that the doctor specifically named and acknowledged my daily struggles etc. not easy to get a doctor to admit that. At least in my experience.

You have a hard life and I know this to be a true statement. A brain injury is a game changer as I know all too well and you do have to advocate for yourself. This is necessary and the happiness here is you found a way to finally get the help you so desperately need. Not only need but required in order to have some semblance of returning to a better and sustainable life.

I've found just being straight about your times of desperation with the doctors to be more effective than anything else. They pick up on your sincerity and weed you from the fakes. Sad but true.
Hope this helps make your life a little bit easier from now on. Oh no one will fill those meds early, just being sincere........hehe
