I don't know why paratroopers were considered to have a more dangerous role.

Glider pilots were also part of the airborne but didn't receive extra pay.

Tank crews also faced great dangers.

Meanwhile, medics were (and are)
expected to expose themselves,
unarmed, while tending to wounded troops.

sheesh, i agree with all the above. my great uncle was a bombadier (sp) and was "shell shocked" the rest of his life...

Me too---- they all deserved hazard pay!

I just saw a "salute" to them on the news and how it is recorded more soldiers were killed on D-Day than the recent war to this date.

My respect goes to them, their families, service workers in all fields. Many people helped in so many ways, many were effected.

and i'll never forget rosie, the riveter and rationing (stories, of course!) but people were more aware due to the sacrifices in their daily lives...
