ok, as I lay on my couch watching a rally good Star Trek movie, my mind eases on over to a group of things that just seem to irk my mind.
first of all, these businesses that use religion to advance their bottom line. Here in Wisconsin we have a business that advertises itself as a "Christian home builder." come again? what does being a Christian have to do with building a home? Are homes built by Christians any better than, say, an atheist or a Buddhist or a Bahai? We got a gas station here run by an obvious Muslim, so maybe he should advertise his business as a Muslim gas station. I don't care about how your faith relates to your business. I'm sure houses that are made by non-Christians stand up as well. As ex coach Mike Ditka would say "stop it"!!!!!
now after watching this movie I remembered the Republican debate was on tonight, so i turned it on (if for no other reason than to see that hottie Michele Bachman). And what do I see? Rick Perry comparing himself to Tim Tebow of the Broncos AND getting laughter and applause from it. Come again? I didn't laugh. Instead, I turned on King of the Hill and got a laugh and never went back to the debate. Hank Hill's dad who got his knee caps shot off beats this political moment any day as far as I'm concerned. didn't feel like stabbing my political junkie brain with a fork tonight.
and I have to admit, I'm somewhat in the Christmas mood lately knowing that I am able to give some presents to my boys even though I'm expecting nothing in return. I guess I just like to make some other people happy from time to time. In lieu of that, I am sick of hearing stuff about the 'war on Christmas" Where's this war? I can't see any near me. Maybe it's being fought the same place as the war on terror (maybe a block away or something). here's the thing: people around me are still saying "Merry Christmas" and the stores are selling Christmas stuff and the calendar says "Christmas" on it, so I think this war is the equivalent of protesting French Wine by buying a couple bottles and pouring them down the sewer. It's a drop in the bucket. People really are celebrating Santa Claus and days off and they really don't care about the meaning of it even though they go to church services. After 40 plus years of my life, I get the religious aspect of this and it's not so special a holiday any more. maybe people destroyed its meaning a long time ago - kinda like the Germans taking over a city in Russia only to find its already burnt and deserted.
and how about these people who are trying to rig elections in WI here by duplicating names or using fake names. I'm trying to figure out where in these people's past that they went so wrong that they felt such dishonest was ok. I think my parents would have been horrified if I had attempted such a thing and would have whacked my butt so hard it would have hurt for days. I just wonder how the parents of these people think of them now and if they even know what they are encouraging.
and, my last rant of the night is to Brett Favre and the NFL. the party's over bud. Nobody wants you anymore. You are the Harrison Ford and Chevy Chase of the NFL. Time to get with your wife and fix your marriage and destroy all the pics you have laying around of your junk so you don't accidently email them to any gals who might tattle on you. We got Aaron Rodgers now and, guess what, we are ok with it....

My husband is like scrooge. He drives me nuts. I am in the giving mode and he is in the stingy mode. I am so sick of the dirty politics. I feel as they act like children who need a referee . Grow up already, lol. This religion thing has gotten way out of whack. You have yours , I have mine, or you don't have any. personal preference. It seems everyone wants their way. Another child tantrum. Everyone cant have it their way. Life isn't perfect. One persons rights steps on another s rights, where does it end?. Go back to your dam cornors and do your thing and leave me out of it,lol. Merry Christmas, Happy Honica or what ever. It is just a good wish for you meant in the right way so please dont take it the wrong way.

My thoughts exactly! I have managed so far to maintain my Christmas spirit...I am facing something huge for me which is to try and bring my mother home for one day. (That's all the nursing home allows) I have begged everyone to at least FAKE it for my mother's sake! My biggest fear about the whole thing is not that when we tried this with my MIL..pretty big woman who had a stroke like my mom...needed to be carried up my steps...she lopsidedly made it with I'm sure a racing heart. But I am scared to death my mom will ask to go home. To her house. Her home is gone. Although her thoughts are pretty tangled up..my mom was no dummy...and she will struggle hard in her mind to get this straight..(shoot they got me here....just take me home!) 0=/ All I ask is this ONE day work for her and that I don't have a breakdown...lol.....or chicken out.....
