I don't think you should penalized single parenthood but perhaps have a time limit that a woman should be on welfare perhaps until her child/or children are in school. What she should get is help/ training finding a job so that she can support herself and not be dependent on government assistance.

This guy's a piece of work. What about the men? How about making the FATHER somewhat accountable. This is the guy who wanted women to be "educated" about the issue. In these cases it's not really about the parents - if a kid is still not receiving proper care after school age, someone has to step up, and if it's not the parents, unfortunately it's the gov.

Yes well I think you have a point there Barb - however what this man is saying is that it is child abuse to be a single parent. And that women are somehow responsible for this child abuse.

I'm not exactly sure what women are supposed to do anymore - the catholic church doesn't want to provide insurance that covers birth control - a number of very conservative congress people think abortions should be outlawed and that birth control is against the Bible - that part about being fruitful and multiplying - but if a single woman has a child she is guilty of child abuse according to this senator in Wisconsin.

And yet Viagara (sp?) - the very medication that provides males with the physical ability to get a woman pregnant is covered by medical insurance. Hmm things look a little lop sided to me.

I don't know why more women are not screaming about what is happening. There is even talk about overturning Roe vs. Wade - which was decided in 1973. Are we not traveling backwards?

In the article it states that, "with single mothers outpacing single fathers 5 to 1". How is that even possible? 1 in 5 children have no father? Are these all by immaculate conception? Did the fathers die?

If the state is going to punish the mothers, then they must punish the father for not marrying the women. What's good for the goose is most certainly good for the gander!

I don't want to argue with you LJ, but my insurance has never covered my birth control or a vasectomy and now that we're older, it doesn't cover Viagra nor does it cover my bioidentical hormones. I apparently, have been the victim of insurance hosing my whole life. Where do I file my complaint?

That's my point with extremism in liberals, concervatives, Muslims, Catholics and on and on. The most extreme get the most attention sometimes to the point where a group of people will think that they are the norm, when they're not. If all you know about a group is from TV or the news......then you don't know them AT ALL.
