It is much like a POTUS who picks and chooses which laws he will uphold. The person who follows "updated theology" or "liberal theology" is picking which commandments or laws or rules of that religion he feels like obeying. That isn't practicing a religion. That isn't even religion lite. That is making up your own religion because God's way doesn't suit you. People who follow liberal theology tend to speak very secularly. They appear to be applying the rules of political correctness to matters of God.
Science is something human beings figured out to help them better understand and utilize the world God gave us. Those with faith realize that we will never understand all things, only God does. Still, God has given us tools- intelligence, thumbs etc- to help us through life. Meanwhile, we are never to lose sight that God set us up in this gig and He made Rules for us to live by.
I think all we are, all we see, hear, touch and experience are all intertwined at that most fundamental level.
That's where we find God, be S/He God, Allah, Jehova, The Universe/Multiverse. It's all one and we are in fact inseperable from it, however at this level of existence/energy we can't perceive It, but It can sure perceive us.
I don't know its true nature (who can?) but I'm fairly certain (faith?) we are a part of it, and it's a part of us.
For me, science, religion, spirituality and faith, are all the same. Religion for me, comes from my time in Catholic schools...
I would have called anyone a liar if they said I would state this 30 years in the present..but thank you Jesus for my time with the nuns...
Science...it's mostly about faith...the belief that all things are possible...if we think it....it will come....theory...becomes reality...becomes "singularity"....
Spirituality for me, is the greatest gift of all...the "knowing"...like when we have epiphanies...aka "enlightenment"....or in Oprah's words...."aha moments".....(sorry)....moments of clarity...when we ask ourselves...."damn....what took me so long?! That was so freaking obvious!" ...
I could provide examples...but I prefer to solicit them....thanks justa....
Science is always confident it's on the verge of truth until the next discovery, however will it ever explain infinity? What came before the Big Bang? If a particle accelerator with the circumference of the solar system was built, what properties of matter/energy would that tease out? How about the size of the Milky Way?
I'll be the first to say it's not possible to know with any degree of certainty whether we do or don't persist on some level after our physical bodies cease to function. Can science say we don't with any degree of certainty?
I find an amazing calmness and serenity in knowing I can't even begin to comprehend the true nature of existence.
