With the Queen's Birthday holiday coming up next weekend, just thought I'd pose the question.

Should Australia be a republic or remain part of the monarchy?

What do you all think?

I think its time we left mum and made our own way in the big bad world. Although it will be a shame to dethrone NSW's lovely governor general Maree Bashir. She is a lovely, down-to-earth lady.

Promisary note after last referendum, remember this; we are not going to have another referendum upon the dwellings of republicanism (AMERICA).
We should have Federation:REBORN I say, and some new newspeak in parliament, toss the losers out; i say to the governor-general.

A year ago I would have said definitely stay with the commonwealth and never saw that I would change my mind.
But I have - i think it is time to move on.

republic is a given, at this point in time we gain nothing being part of the monarchy, we have grown, we are independent, we are strong, no more riding on coattails
