Yes i know its been a while since ive put anything on the board but, im really starting to get pissed off with the way people pronounce australia .Every time i hear it on the tv or on the radio people saying stralia or astralia ,come on guys cant we even get that right its A U S T R A L I A not stralia .And another thing its western australia not west australia even our stupid prime minister cant pronounce it right ,is it just me or does anyone else find it annoying
nah mate, just us lazy aussies can't say our vowels or so Ive been told by an English Professor, sé's right we speak through our nose a lot and we speak strine which is not the Queens English a mix of our Irish and Cockney ancestors.
I always say Western Australia so I hope that makes you a little bit happy.
Bugs me too the way some say Australia. They seem to say Oustralia. really grates on me. Yes we have some of our own expressions, but every country has. I sometimes feel tempted to mispronounce their countries if talking to them.
i agree with aussiej we are just lazy talker..i have been know to say stralia...bad i know.......i also have herd oustralia many times to......but i do agree we of all people should say it correct..
I'm too tired to say it clearly all the time, it gets too hot here in summer and turns my brain to mush, i have to figure out what my new australia friends are trying to saay, let them puzzle over my diction sometimes.
I was raised to speak the Queens english and when I was a young woman everybody thought I was a snob so I had to learn to fit in.
