South Africa has just won its first Test Cricket series victory in Australia against Australia in 100 years of cricket. With the los to India in India and now the loss to SA in Australia, Australia will lose its spot as number 1 ranked nation in world cricket which they have had for 10 years. Its a dark day in Australian Cricket. For any American reader its similar to the USA basketball team being dethrowned by Italy or Spain, or the USA baseball team losing the world no 1 ranking to Cuba. Australia could languish in the also rans for decades. For a Cricket fan ("tragiclly so") its a similar feeling to going to the dentist to have your teeth pulled. It just plain hurts.
Congratulations must go too the South Africans, they just played better than us.
Its really nice to see a team whose batsman walk when they know they are out (without looking at the umpire) and whose bowlers dont 'appeal' every single time the ball hits the pads, win a series. Sportsmanship in sport is alive and well. They have just proved it.
