I dont hate Anne. I just hated her wedding headpiece.

She seems full of herself, but we are just spectators looking up at a very large stage. Who knows?

I admire her a lot. She handled her ex boyfriend/thief relationship privately. Maintained her dignity.

Well, I don't think she handled the situation with her dress* for the Oscars very well, but aside from that, I don't have any particular feelings about her, one way or another.

*She was supposed to wear a Valentino gown. When she discovered that someone else was going to wear a similar gown, she switched to a Prada gown. Valentino was never informed. He should have been given an opportunity to put her in another Valentino gown.

Cindy, I agree with you about her handling of the gown and that Valentino should've had the chance to give her a different dress - how it could be that she and her co-star almost wore similar dresses and didn't know until a few hours before the show makes little sense - if she could find out hours before the show what Amanda was wearing, then she could've found out sooner than that with enough time to get another dress from Valentino that would've fit her better than the other gown she chose or Amanda could've decided on a different dress (from what I read, she did not have a back up dress available to her).

It seems many people just feel she comes off rather smug and overconfident and that is what is bugging people about her...my brother even said it today, he saw a picture of her on a magazine cover and saw "Ugh Anne Hathaway, I can't stand her" and he basically said she just is so annoying now he can't stand to look at her.

I think she gets compared now too with Jennifer Lawrence, since both won Oscars on the same night and Anne came off like she rehearsed her speech for months in the bathroom mirror while Jen was very off the cuff and more normal and humble (and the trip on the way up to receive her award only endeared her more to people). Funny thing is, there was a time when people seemed to like Anne Hathaway too, and she seemed so likeable not all that long ago...but I think her many awards for Les Mis maybe went to her head.

I think being hounded by the paps and having every inch of your body scrutinised every time you left the house would turn me into a bitch too (should say even a bigger bitch lol)

I don't hate her I think she is a good actress but I agree she didn't handle the dress thing right and it made her come across as snobby. But I believe it will die down. I had a similar thing happen to me at high school prom I got their and I was wearing a very similar dress to my friend and she threw a fit lol . I didn't even know what her dress had looked like. Anyways in the end she made herself just like Anne look like an brat. I don't see why she just didn't ware the dress anyways who cares really ???

Yes, I think the dress thing really threw a lot of people for a loop. Reports that she had a hissy-fit. Now, we don't really know if that' true because the media loves to fire people up. But I saw both Valentino gowns and although they were similar they were not that much alike to justify a new gown for Ann. Maybe because it was a co-star wearing it, I don't know. But that Prada gown was hideous and probably cost more than my SUV.

And I am a bit tired of the "eat a cheeseburger" remarks I've read over and over again. Ann is naturally slim and lost a lot of weight for her role and is probably being veryccareful how she puts weight back on. And God forbid, she gains 20 lbs, people will call her a heifer or a pig. Celebrities just can't win in that area. If they get cosmetic surgery, they're criticized for it. If they don't, they look like "old hags". It must be exhausting to deal with that day in and day out. So they surround themselves with positive people who learn to say yes to save their jobs and then they get inflated egos. I hope Jennifer Lawrence doesn't get eaten alive by Hollywood. I really like her and love her movies. She seems to have a good head on her shoulders.

I didn't hear any of her awards speeches so I can't honestly say if she sounds fake or not. I did love her in The Devil Wears Prada and The Princess Diaries. She just needs to lay low and let this pass over and concentrate on her acting and not the press. Because no matter how justified she might be on saying something in the media, she'll be torn to shreds.

We're all citing the dress fiasco as a reason why people are hating on her, but those websites I mentioned that are devoted to loathing her, many of them were popping up long before the story about the dress swtich came out and long before she even won the Oscar. So something about her wasn't clicking for a lot of people before the Oscars happened...

Sandy, I think you're right on about how Anne's probaby being very careful about putting weight back on after doing Les Mis since she probably already threw her system out of whack by losing all that weight in the first place. Besides, she's a married woman so lord knows if she looks like she did eat a hamburger and suddenly has a belly the media will exclaim that she's pregnant and that's just another thing she'd have to defend and then get eaten up about.
