Hi unicom. I don't have terminal cancer I have Pulmonary Hypertention. That is terminal. I will sufficate til I die with congestive heart failure. Now that's how two terminal people meet and greet each other. lol There is a couple of people (and probably more I don't know) that has cancer. I too am alone so to speak. My hubby is a truck driver and he is gone all the time. I have grown children but they have long since left home and have lives of their own and I am not included in it. I took care of my daddy till he died with cancer. I say momma died of stubberness. She need dialysis and wouldn't take them. I am 60 and the next generation to go.
This is a pretty good group here. We were all at the Pulmonary page but no one stayed around long so they started this one up. I think it is better. I come visit when I need them and they are great about encouraging people and then I might be down and not online for awhile. We do what we can do and everyone understands that. I think you found the perfect place for a support system. And by the way..don't worry about the casket...let who ever do that. Someone will that's for sure. O by the way Unicom are you a lady or a gent? I am a lady. :-) Glad to meet you.

Hey Unicorn, I have had cancer but mine isn't terminal currently LOL! I had melanoma. The disease I struggle with is Sarcoidosis. I will either need a lung transplant or that will be it. I have no intention of getting a transplant. I am very sorry you are alone. I am in the process of getting divorced, my ex decided living with someone chronically ill wasn't what he bargained for so he took off. My mother recently died and when my dad goes I will be almost alone. I do have my aunts and cousins, but they are getting older and have their own families. I know they would take care of me but I'd hate that. It's scary though.

This group is good because no one can understand or relate unless you've been told those words. Welcome!!

Boxer - get that transplant if you can, I know its scary but lately every minute of every day is scary for me, Being alone makes everything twice as hard altho they say everyone is really on their own. I dont know about that. If I disappear from here for a while its because I have loads of horrible tests to go through and more surgery.

Hey Unicorn, I appreciate the encouragement. It's been a long road. When I had cancer I refused chemo and radiation(they also were not doing it with melanoma back then as much they are now). The reason I have chosen to not to do a transplant is two fold. One, it won't be me a lot of time and two , my disease will start to infect the new lung immediately. I have been through so many surgeries(17) procedures(too many to count) and I just don't have it in me to fight that battle anymore. Granted I leave all my options open and if THE time came I may change my mind.

I too have a surgery at some point in my future. We're thinking of you!

unicorn23 , are you a little more comfortable with meeting some of us terminal people , there will be more showing up.
Boxerlover , being ill and divorce at the same time is a harsh blow .I see that you enjoy football as I do to , along with my wife and kids. I pull for the Broncos and have been for many years but this past Super Bowl was a big disappointment. I'm not giving up on them though.

My mama has been gone since 2004. She died because she wouldn't let them do the dialysis that she needed. I say she died of stubbornness. Something she would say that I seen to think of a lot of the time now is..."God's been trying to get me home to Heaven for years and I keep paying the doctors to keep me here. That just don't make sense to me. I am not going to do that any longer." And..she didn't.
I am so thankful you all are here for each of us. No one knows what we go through in a day, hour or minute of our lives but someone who is there themselves. Blessing to everyone. Sleep restful.

I know this is a terrible thing to say but I'm glad I'm not alone in this horrible journey. If we stay with each other it might just make things easier. Dont forget those who are not this ill can't really understand.

Welcome to our group hun! You are NOT alone anymore. I am 36 years old and my children are age 6 and 12. I have a son and a daughter. The members of this group are a precious group of individuals from many different walks of life. I developed heart failure, pulmonary hypertension with hypoxia 2 years ago and high pressure in my brain so I had to get a shunt. I recently found out I have benign growths in the spinal cord that cannot be removed due to risk of paralysis so I have to get radiation and yes surgery in the future as well. It has been a roller coaster and continues to be at times. However, I draw strength from my faith and friends here who have encouraged me and provided me comfort in the worst of times.

I am so glad you are here hun and I look forward to getting to know you better.:) This is your safe haven and you can vent, laugh, cry, or just kick your shoes off and stay awhile as the saying goes. Again, welcome!!!

I will be in the hosptal real soon and therefore away from the group for who knows how long. How do you people cope ?
