Syringomyelia is a disorder in which a cyst or tubular cavity forms within the spinal cord. This cyst, called a syrinx, expands and elongates over time, destroying the center of the spinal cord resulting in pain, weakness, and stiffness in the back, shoulders, arms, or legs.

Has anyone had the shakes with syringomyelia.Yesterday I got them so bad that I couldn`t even read the news paper,my hands were shaking like I had Parkensons.It is the first time this has happened,it was not like the shakes you get when your blood sugar is low and I don`t know if it is one of the symptoms of SM.I hope it was just a one time event but who knows.

left arm shakes just a little bit. Only when it's tingling really, bad, though.

What's really wierd is when my left pinky feels like it's in ice water, but the rest of my hand feels normal!

When I go to bed at night I feel as if my bed is vibrating. The only other time I get the shakes is if I try to do too much or if I am really weak that day. Then my whole body shakes. I kinda look like I have Parkinson's when it happens and I can't walk without a walker at that point.

I have them all the time and always feels either eally cold or really hot, usually I get back spasms along with the shaking.

yes many times also my head starts nodding and i cant stop it.its so irritating

Since I had posted this I ahve learned that it is not just a one time thing and have had them several times,sometimes even at night when I am asleep they wake me up .Uncontrolable and nothing to do about them as of this time any suggestions???

I would try moving to a recliner and seeing if it helps. More full body support in the recliner. Sometimes rubbing my muscles also helps.

as I read everyones posts, I realize I have a great many symptoms I attributed to other things. It now seems to more readily associate with SM.This past year I began having feet and leg numbness and tingling, then trembly hands, more so on the left side (usually my symptoms are much worse on the right side). I feel comforted at least knowing I am not crazy! I thought I might have had a stroke in my sleep as I also experience facial pain, twitching, tingling and muscle "laziness".

i occasionally get the shakes only really in my legs though
