Syringomyelia Support Group
Syringomyelia is a disorder in which a cyst or tubular cavity forms within the spinal cord. This cyst, called a syrinx, expands and elongates over time, destroying the center of the spinal cord resulting in pain, weakness, and stiffness in the back, shoulders, arms, or legs.
I had to go and get anotherMRI on Monday evening in Albuqurque.Today the Neurologist called with the results from the radiologist report.Everything was about the same except that there is a cyst where the shunt was placed in the spinal cord.He did tell me that I need to go ahead and see the NS and see what his recomendations are reguarding the cyst.Sounds like he didn`t like what he saw because he was asking me if I had made arangments to see the NS in the next few day`s.I have an appointment but it is not until the 10th.It was the soonest that we could make.I am at a loss as to what to do.I know it won`t get better if nothing is done but the thought of having that kind of surgery agian really worries me.Iguess I should wait until all the doctors have given me thier opinioms.Has anyone had this happen to thier shunt and what had to be done to fix the problem?
Hang in there. See what the neurologists has to say. And in the meantime, take good care of yourself. I hope everything works out.
