Syringomyelia is a disorder in which a cyst or tubular cavity forms within the spinal cord. This cyst, called a syrinx, expands and elongates over time, destroying the center of the spinal cord resulting in pain, weakness, and stiffness in the back, shoulders, arms, or legs.
Is anyone experiencing weight loss? I've never really weighed much, but I have spent the better part of a year gaining weight to be at an average weight. After I got on my new meds, Lyrica 400mg, Cymbalta 60mg, Wellbutrin 150mg, Lortab 7.5-325, I started loosing weight. Since I had an eating disorder up till about 5 years ago, I don't have a scale so I don't know for sure how much I have l have actually lost, but I do measure when my clothes begin to fit differently. I had a 32" waist and 35.5" hips 2 months ago, and today when I realized that my clothes were fitting loosely, I measured and my waist is now 29" and my hips are 32". Any ideas??? Anyone else experiencing this?? Could it be related to the meds?? My NL is a little confused with my weight problem and so am I.
I was born with the heart problems, mitrol valve prolapse with a murmur. So far, we don't see too many problems there, but are watching it. I feel being UNDER weight is just as hard as being OVER weight. I face a lot of the same social issues being considered "too thin", "skinny" (I hate that one the most), or "anorexic looking" and then health problems such as; vitamin and protein retention, gastrointestinal problems, anemia, infertility, menstruation troubles, not to mention it is really hard to find clothes in a small enough size in the waist and long enough for my 6'1" legs. I did weigh myself yesterday and I'm down 15 lbs in the last month. I weighed in at 155 lbs at the NL 's office last month when I was put on my new med regimen. Right now I am on the cusp of normal and I don't want to drop anymore. I do understand how you feel though Beck. It's hard watching your body change no matter which way it's going. So many things change with this disease and it's not fun. And I'm only a year into it, the best is yet to come!
