I haven't had any dealing in that. I'm sorry I can't help you out but keep up the laughter and tell them exactly how you feel. I would write everything down so you don't forget anything especially if this meeting determands if you get it or not. keeping you in my prayers.

They are going to implant something into your body. You may not see it yet but that requires you to be willing and able to stand the device and the fact it is now part of you.

I love that commercial..it cracks me up! I promise it won't be like that for you! Psych people tend to want to dig really deep, rather than scratch the surface of issues. That's probably why it'll take so long. I have a long history of seeing psych people (wait, that didn't really sound good, did it?) so if you have specific concerns, feel free to message me. I never had to go through the Psychiatrist eval when I got my permanent SCS, my Doc does not make his patient's do this (Thank God!), I don't need a shrink telling me that I am crazy, I already know!!! LOL! Good luck with your appointment, and pleas keep us posted!

Mmm, they didn't require any psych eval when the put in a metal hip or various plates, rods, screws and bolts in me. Maybe they should have...

I actually had a psych evaluation appt today for the SCS Implant. The psych evaluation isn't bad at all. My appt was about an hour and a half. It is not really needed at all except the ins comp requests it, you should be fine.

PAPERWORK! just *think* of all the paperwork! that's a good 30 minutes right there. and then you have to wait for him, of course, he can't just come right out when he's supposed to see you - you have to wait, let that anticipation build up, my friend!

i would also imagine that there are survey-like questionaires, along w/regular paperwork.

i was in a play once - i can't remember the name but it was hilarious. there was a scene where the patient was waiting for the doctor. his receptionist went back to his office to tell him for the second time that his patient was waiting, to find the doctor doing absolutely nothing but sitting at his desk.

"how long has he been waiting?" the doctor asked.

"fifteen minutes," the receptionist replied.

"FIFTEEN MINUTES!? then i can't possibly see him yet!" the doctor yelled.
"he HAS to wait longer than that!

... that's about it, too, huh?

David, it's not a big deal. If yours is like the one I had you have a long list of questions to answer. The questions are the kind where they ask the same thing over and over in different ways. Just be honest and you'll be fine. I think I spent maybe a half hour talking with him and then maybe an hour answering the questions.

Think of it as an IME but about what's going on in your head. There might be a lot of fiddling with papers in your file, how confident you are that it will make a difference, where you are at now without the implant.

Yeah this is progress! You are getting closer and closer. I've done a pysch eval before and they just ask you a lot of questions in different ways. It wasn't a big deal at all. The hard part is sitting there that long!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh heck tell him that you hate your mother, was run over by your father and love the color yellow most of all. Then just smile at him!!!!!

Nah, kick him in the softy parts and then ask, "wow does that really hurt that much? You can't be in THAT MUCH PAIN. Stop making such a fuss."

i had a pyschologist appointment on wensday. i have never met the dr. before he walked in and introduced himself and i did likewise. then he said how are you today and what can i do for you, and i just could not resist so i told him i was fine and that probaly not much considering my other two psychologists fired me. and then i tried not to smile he was very puzzeled, and then he new i was just B.S.ing. it felt good to jerk him around a little.
