I understand that your eldest left and you say that you have no purpose anymore. All of us tend to find and lose our purpose and find another one all of the time. The trick is to take one's time when it comes to finding a purpose. Your eldest had the independence to leave the house. It sounds like you're a great parent. Also, you said that you have a friend. A friend as well as your child will definitely miss you if you were gone.
You don't deserve the suicidal thoughts. You deserve to feel better and to be patient with yourself. I hope that the pain will get smaller over time.
If you feel as though your suicidal thoughts or the pain becomes too much, you can contact a suicidal hotline. I don't know the hotline number for whatever your location is, but the National Suicide Hotline number for the United States is 1 800-273-8255. Also, there is a texting suicide hotline service called Crisis Text Line. You can text HOME to their number at 741741. If that doesn't work, you can go to wikipedia.org and type list of suicide crisis lines in the search box. There will be a long list of phone numbers by country. Please stay strong and stay safe for yourself.
