Hello all.....I have been heavily addicted to pain meds now for about 9yrs.  It has caused all kinds of problems.  I finally had a wake up call and as of the 10th of March, I will not have had a pain pill in 2 MONTHS!!  My therapist suggested I join an online support group cause there aren't alot of groups like this in my area.  My husband has filed for divorce (after 18 yrs of marriage) because of my addiction and that was my final push to try Suboxone and get my life together.  Thank God I did!  I am fighting hard now to keep my family and marriage together.  I also have 4 kids.

I didn't get help until I hit my low. I went through detox where I was started on suboxone. I didn't get high but it removed the cravings. I was on it for about 4 months while going through some addiction counseling. Most doctors here in Maine, won't prescribe it unless you are in some kind of treatment program. I could have stayed on it longer but the drug was higher then what I could afford to pay so my doctor came up with a weaning schedule and I was able to wean from it without withdrawals.

If I could offer a suggestion it would be to not stay on suboxone for the long term. I have seen people here who tried to get off suboxone after being on it for 2 or 3 years and were having a very hard time. Apparently, the longer you have been on it, the more difficult it is to stop taking it.

I am glad suboxone is helping you but try to keep it a short term solution and focus on your underlying issues that are triggering your addiction and for that you may need addiction counseling and/or NA meetings. The meetings are free if you can't afford counseling or have no insurance and the 12 steps are designed to help you clear away the blocks that are preventing you from staying clean and sober.

     I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...
