I have been taking oxycodone on and off for over 2 years. I am a stay at home mom of 2 kids. I have quit cold turkey twice, first time was last year and it was hell. The physical stuff is one thing but for me the emptiness, sadness, anxiety and depression tear my soul out. I can't laugh, smile and be a good mom. I then went back on them but at a much lower dose then ever before I was also taking xanax at the same time. I quit in March of this year cold turkey again went through 2 weeks of feeling sick then the anxiety and depression kicked in, I was a mess. I would wake up every am in panic and afraid. I have been to several dr's and tried different anti depressants and other meds nothing helps. I slowly started back on them again and I have weaned off my xanax with the use of klonopin. I am now down to taking 1 klonopin .5mgs a night. I feel ok but don't want to get back into the cycle of finding pills, worrying about filling my script cause where I live they are hard to find. I also don't want to harm my brain or body any more then I may have already, I only take 15-20 mgs of oxycodone a day does anyone know if suboxone is a good alternative for me. I want to hear advice and stories from anyone and everyone,
26 mg, I walked out of that office a new man, infact the first thing I did was go to a Subway and eat because I hadn't had any food in the 48 hrs. I was pill sick, I then went out and did what any normal person would do and started living my life again, everything came back, I loved life again,
Now it's important to point out that Suboxone is a medication used to stop the use of opioid, it blocks the receptors in your brain that normally were occupied by the opioid and allows your body to get rid of all the opioid in your system with out going though the hell of withdrawals, it is taken daily, the program I'm on works by me taking the meds everyday, this allows me to stop having to always worry about when and where I'm going to get more pills so I can function, I am able to be a functioning member of society, so while I'm taking the suboxone I'm forming new habits, getting my life back in order, being a husband again, being a father again, working hard at my job, just living a clean healthy life, once I've been doing all that for a while and have secured a stable life again I am now able to slowly start coming down off the medication.
Coming off Suboxone is a slow process, at first you can jump down in increments of 4 mg, for eg; 26 mg down to 22 mg, then down to 18 mg then 14 mg, but once your down around 10 mg or so you will start dropping by 2 mg until your done, but from my experience you don't want to drop too fast, take your time to adjust to each new dose, when I drop I stay on that new dose for about 3-4 months to get used to it, everyone is different and you will figure it all out
From what I read in your comments, it sounds like you need something that will let you get back to your life again and stop having to think about pills, suboxone would definitely help you get your life back, It helped me.
