The Bible unfolds like literature, and we follow the instructions like marching orders. The last orders supersede the previous ones. So the New Covenant (Testament) gives the design of who we are, what we do, and how we meet. What do you see in it, that can help us live better?
1. Quite quickly (40 days?)
2. For so long a duration (2000 years)
Wouldn't a spiritual ascention (rapture) have accomplished the same faith provocing absence/ speedy departure?

Wouldn't the invisible spiritual ascention of Jesus (rapture) have accomplished the same faith provoking "speedy departure" and lengthy absence?
It's like saying absence makes the heart grow fonder. And invisibility helps him be "bigger". Better though? Just going back to your "truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord (LORD).
Write us an article about LORD lord and Lord. If you want.
["truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord (LORD).]
Why is God saying that? He wants a time that will be on earth when His Glory will fill the whole earth. God will be all and in all. No more sin and death, crying or pain. Everyone will be immortal being like the angels. Remember that Jesus tells us that we will be just like the angels someday in the future when he comes back.
When Jesus comes back, all the earth will be fill with the "knowledge" of the Lord. Everyone will know that Christ will be back on earth at that time. The kingdoms of man will be gone and only one kingdom on earth. Jesus as our King.

I don't really understand what your saying here.....
He has been gone a long time.
So, what about LORD in the OT? And Lord and lord, in both testaments? Bad translations for more than just the first (LORD)?
Ok, next. Names of Yahweh. The Jews had many name for God or GOD.
When we read "GOD" in all caps, that is talking about Yahweh. The Jews also knew about God manifestation too. God manifesting His name or Himself into people or angels. Esp, angels.
"God" would be one of three names which the translators knew too, but just decided to write God or GOD.
1. EL - The idead of Power, Might, Strength. "It is EL that girdth me with strength," declared the Psalmist in 18v32
2. ELOAH - signifies Mighty One, one whose might is derived from EL, thus Deity in specific manifestation.
3. ELOHIM - Plural from the the word ELOAH. Deity in multitudinous manifestation. The word, though plural, is ofter used with a singular verb, indicating that though the Elohim may constitute a multitude, one Eternal Spirit motivates them all, thus revealing Deity in manifestation. Elohim is used mostly for angels, but in some cases it is used for man too. The judges were called "God" or Elohim because they brought the Word of God to the people.
4. LORD GOD - Yahweh - He Who Will Be
5. LORD - Yah
6. Lord - Adon or Adoni - Lord or Ruler, it is a title of great importatance. Jesus, Moses, Abraham and some angels were all called Lord. It DOESNT mean they are God.
7. Almightly God - El Shaddai - The Might of the Pwerful Ones.
8. Lord God - Yahweh Elohim - He Who Will Be Mightly Ones.
9. Lord of Hosts - Yahweh Tz'vaoth - He Who Will Be Amies. The army of God.
There is just too many names to list. But this should give you an idea of just some of the names of Deity.
I hope I answered your questions.

No, they are not bad translations, it's what the translators wanted to put in there so it would be easier to understand I would say.
