A you will know some day how effective you have been. Kind words have power. They can be recalled over and over by the one who you spoke them to and lift them up. Like ripples in water when a pebble drops. I know this.
My husband and children are very close to me, but my siblings and my mother are distant. When I felt rejected by my brother years ago, Brother Thomas said "Daddy loves you" After all of this time, it seemed possible to heal my relationship with my brother but it was more rejection which I wish I never opened myself up to again. I remembered my brother in Christ, Thomas and his words, and I came back here.

I spent so much energy on my past trying to "fix" the source of pain and find my place and sense of identity in my former family unit. I can not live in the old me shoes. I know the new me makes some people in my family uncomfortable yet they see the difference in me because of my faith. I think they do love me, but when I am around, they think of things they have not dealt with.
I like the saying about being a work in progress. Someday we will see it all clearly.
"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." 1 Corinthians 13:12
