Hello,
I was wondering if we had any IT pros at this forum.. With all the SA we have, I would like to think we have some pretty savy people on this site. I checked my BF data usage on his android on Tuesday (2-20) and it was 15KB. I checked it yesterday and it had sored to 2794KB. in ONE DAY??? Is that a lot of data? Considering he is home and not working, I am thinking he has moved from his computer to phone to watch porn movies?? But I also don't know if 2794kb is alot in one day?? Anyone have any ideas? I did confront him but of course he says he has no idea why it's that high? So I look to my friends here to help me because I know he will lie and lie until I can PROVE it.
Hi,
I do not even own a cellphone (I know...WHAT????) so I am not the least bit knowledgable and do not know if this is accurate but I found this on the following AT&T website: 1 email = 10 KB; download one web page = 50 KB; 1 hr surfing = 10 MB; 1 hour streaming audio - 15-20 MB; 1 hr streaming video = 100-150 MB; 1 hr of playing online games = 10-15 MB; 1 JPEG photo - 2-3 MB. http://tipstoretireearly.hubpages.com/hub/cell-phone-data-plans-how-much-is-one-gigabyte
I also looked up how many kb = a mb and it is 1024 kb = 1MB.
xoxo
I also have done some research on data usage, and the simplest info & reply that I found was that "anything that moves, uses data".
So YouTube, any other movies, downloading pictures, there's a "Chive" app that is very heavy on pictures and uses a LOT of data. Games that move or are animated & such.
Text & email use very minimal.
I keep a daily watch on our online Verizon account (only I know the password) to track text/picture messaging, data usage & phone calls.
I have noticed from more than 6 months ago that he mostly ONLY uses data while at work - but his job does not require cell phones and they are actually supposed to be forbidden during work hours! The company wants the workers to use company land phones and/or walkie talkies, and threatens cell use with termination - but my husband has been there over 15 years & the company has yet to fire anyone for using their cell phones at work.
But inevitibly, he gets on it immediately when he arrives and is on it throughout the day, and the last usage is always right BEFORE he leaves.
Some days there are a lot more entries than others (sometimes I wonder if he even did anything at work!), but on the weekends & days off, it's usually only once or twice.
I have asked him time and time again, even showing him the page, but he always claims that he doesn't know, and all he says he does is play a few games (words with friends, etc.)
Unless/until the phone companies actually start SHOWING what was being used, it's going to be frustrating!
well let's hope these carriers get on board and start displaying this information. I did call him out on it the other night so hopefully now that he knows I am monitoring the bill, he'll back off. Doubtful, but I can wish. It amazes me what lengths they go through to hide it, all the while professing their love for us.... very sick and confusing.
What helped me understand the WHY of it, was a YouTube video: "Your Brain on Porn". Check it out when you're alone. It explains a lot, which makes it easier for me to "get" why men do this - but I still don't condone it at all!!
Spoiler = men are genetically wired to mate with as many females as possible. Pictures/porn represent mates. They keep clicking to "mate" with more females & get that rush of satisfaction.
The down side is that it wears them down and eventually they develop erectile dysfunction, even at younger and younger ages!
My husband is 47 and has been on ED meds for 4 years already.
