During my H's last relapse, I discovered that he had included a good friend of ours in his photo "collection." She was clothed at a public event but he was using it in a sexual manner. He admitted to having always been attracted to her. This Saturday, she is having a closing art event. We helped sponsor it. Her show has been going on for several months but each time there is a reception, we have had family obligations or been out of town. I told her we would go this time for sure. Then I discovered her picture among others (all the other photos were people we don't know). I have mixed feelings about us going on Saturday. It seems like he is really trying lately - groups, marriage counseling, dates with me, coffee in the morning together etc. Am I being weird? Would you go? Thanks!
My initial reaction is that I would go and tell my h to not attend. As long as he is objectifying her sexually I wouldn't feel comfortable. It has nothing to do with her...she doesn't even know it.
Wow... on first thought, I'd tend to agree for you to go to support her 100%, and ask hubbie to send his regrets (maybe a nice bottle of wine, or something). Since he's been working on his recovery, he should understand the situation....
Oh, that's a tough one, for sure!
Definitely not her fault - and it would be really awkward if you tried to inform her (I wouldn't) - but yes, I agree with the two above...
YOU go, but hubs has to stay home.
Hopefully, she won't contact him directly afterward, to politely say how much she missed him being there with you.
Please let us know how it goes.
((hugs))
