Hi,
I see alot of women on here that are using tracking devices to track activity of their husbands, etc. Can you share with me what programs you think work best and really capture the data you're looking for?
I never used spyware on the computers so I can't be of help there. My h's main thing wasn't porn. I did put a tracker in his car and once I got confirmation that he was lying about his whereabouts, I took it out. I didn't need any other proof because I started obsessing and creating my own addiction. I did go into bank statements and credit card statements to see what was going on and there was a shocker there. Thousands had gone to his addictions so I went back further....tens of thousands. We had an intervention with an ultimatum at that point.
My H's addiction IS/was porn. I've known since/found out in May of 2008.
He had been exposed at the age of 11, thanks to his fathers 'stash' and his older brother finding and showing it to him.
The very first "tracker" that I used was WebWatcher.com It's good, but expensive, and not the easiest to install. (I'm average in being tech savvy). You can pay a little extra for them to install it for you, but make sure you check history afterward, cuz the tech guy that installed mine, failed to clear the history. Thankfully, I checked it myself!
Once installed, it is 100% stealth and not detectible.
It does a good job and is especially useful if you do not always have access to the target computer (the one your H uses), since you can check the usage from any computer, because it's web based.
You log in with your password, then select from a menu of what you want to review.
So if he tends to take it with him to work, you can still monitor what he's been doing from anywhere.
That said, I did find some issues with it whenever a browser would update (i.e. Firefox) and WebWatcher would lag behind that update, causing the loss of data due to the browser's update. Webwatcher does not always update their program in a timely manner to keep up - and they won't issue a refund because of it either (I asked).
Earlier this year, I found "All in One Keylogger", which I totally love MUCH better.
It's much less expensive, very easy to install, has many more options, captures EVERYTHING, including offline files, (like pictures, etc. I found my H's hidden files of porn via this program!), anything which is typed, AND you can set it to send you e-mails at intervals which you choose. (I set it to once per every hour that the computer was in use).
You can set the screenshots to intervals of your choosing also. I set mine to every 5 secs., because my H was a multi tab browser.
About the ONLY down side is that if you want to see the screenshots, it's best to have regular access to the machine, because sending them to your e-mail is a mega HUGE amount of data, so it's better not to - just get on the machine, log in and look at it there.
This was the ONLY thing which I trusted 100%, to give me unrefuteable proof - AND the tool which I used to give my H an ultimatum on Dec. 13, 2012.
He didn't have a leg to stand on. Oh, and it's also admissible in court (in my state, because I checked with my lawyer. "community property" means that I also own that computer, which makes it 100% legal) But you might want to check that in your state.
Best wishes!
I installed webwatchers on computer, you can watch what he's doing from any computer.. but.. the best way. I bought a nanny cam, that looked like a digital alarm clock. So glad I did, way worth the money. I was working and he was looking at porn all day!! there is no way to lie your way out of that! http://www.spytecinc.com/video-devices/nanny-cams.html.
My husband is a porn addict. We have been dealing with this for 23 years. I have never used any sort of spyware. Eventually what he is doing becomes evident. We are both in therapy, marriage counseling and he goes to group. I do not want to offend anyone who feels that spyware is necessary but for me, it feeds into my own sickness. In catching him, I wanted the ammunition. I wanted the "proof" since he could lie so well and I was so unsure. But despite all my threats, I really wasn't ready to leave (even when I thought I was or meant it at the moment). I was aware that I too had issues but was so busy focusing on him that I wasn't working as much on my stuff. I am now. It is hard and often I don't want to do the work when it comes to intimacy and sex but I know it will help me become more healthy. This disease is horrible and a hard one to overcome but if he relapses again I'm gone. My son said something very valuable to me about a year ago when I was doing some "yes but...." stuff. He said, " it is making the decision that's important (or hard), all else are only details." At first I didn't think he understand but now I see he understood perfectly. I started working on me and on the details.
Thank you for your replies. I know a person can go crazy with checking up on their spouses, but if I don't have the evidence infront of him, he will just lie about it.. He is in no recovery other than to tell me "he just stopped" and is all better... It gets very frustrating because I can usually tell by his behavior what he has been up to that day (no pun intended)..
Exactly, missbaha!
I tell my H that I can tell by his behavior (of course I do NOT give him any details, or he'd learn to cover it up!) and I ALWAYS trust my instincts, because they're never wrong.
When he does NOT look at porn, he's more outgoing, confident and in an overall better mood.
He has learned to look me squarely in the eyes, not blink and keep his voice steady whenever he lies, so I certainly can't go by that.
Of course, now after the ultimatum that I gave him on Dec. 13th, he's been admittedly much better - and he knows all about the keylogger because I showed him that it captures EVERYTHING, leaving him NO room for lies...
Since then, he has only been on the laptop about twice a week now, when before, it was daily, for hours at a time.
But I've also come to the conclusion that I'm going to have to install the keylogger on my teenaged daughter's laptop as well - because she leaves it sitting in the livingroom - and he could very well be getting on HERS instead on his, to do his scum browsing, then delete it from history!
Sad, I know, but I have to cover all the bases and be certain that he's NOT using hers. It would be very tempting for an addict to do! And NOOOO, I do NOT trust him not to, when it's sitting right there.
I wish there was a program for iPhones and iPods too - even though I have "parental controls" set on both - I know if he goes on wi-fi instead of the carrier, (Verizon) that he can easily get around it.
I check the devices history a few times a week, but one simple swipe and it's all gone! Grrrr!!
I have for years constantly checked up on my husband and then heard about these spy wear and key logger programs and was all excited to download them and see how well they work and to know that I would know without a doubt that he is doing something he shouldn't. But I stopped to think about how obsessed I had been in the past and how knowing made me just as miserable as him lying. The feeling is still the same only I know for sure. Instead I no longer question myself and if I feel that he is lying after I confront him I tell him that I don't believe him and he usually understands. For my H it is not always hiding porn or whatever, it can be something that is bothering him that he wants to share with me but is afraid to share for various reasons. Lying and keeping his feelings and thoughts from me have a similar affect on his behavior. I feel better just checking his phone once or twice a month. He also had me turn the internet off through the carrier so he can only use WiFi at home, can't at work at all as he is military, and he actually agreed to the key logger when we discussed it because he thought it would be a good way to hold him accountable. I personally thought it was a way to force him to be truthful rather then just be honest because he needed to. I also would have became obsessed with watching him and I don't want that ever again.
These are just my feelings and thoughts though. I know i would have loved this in the start, but 11 years in, not for me!
Thanks again ladies. I understand that people feel differently about this subject and I respect that. For me, he will continue to lie until I can show him that I know. My gut tells me he i up to no good and my gut has never steered me wrong, but he won't listen to me and will just deny it if I don't have any proof. I also worry about his smart phone but I also have to laugh every time I imagine him looking at porn on a small screen.... Pretty sad and pathetic to be that addicted.
Small screen or not, bare boobs are bare boobs and so on. Plus, that small screen can be easily enlarged for a closer look with just the movement of two fingers, whereas that isn't possible on a normal computer screen.
And the Google app is not entirely subject to the parental controls.
Yes, it bothers me - a lot.
And, he has an e-mail account at work, which I have no access to.
That bothers me a lot too.
And he can always use a thumb drive to save stuff. Those suckers are cheap, small and easily hidden.
(I often try to think about what *I* would do, if I were the addict and wanted to hide stuff)
In addition to the famous porn actresses, my H also likes to look up the not so well known actresses who have minor rolls and are more likely to pose nude and/or do "other things" in order to move up in the industry. Most of them I've never even heard of.
I'm always amazed and wonder just WHERE does he find these names anyway? I can only assume he possibly gets them from guys he works with, and/or pays too close attention to the credits in various movies (such as extras and minor rolls like "VW driver" in "21 Jump Street", which was the last one he looked up; Candi Brooks)!
My point being is that MY H is NOT forthcoming, will NOT EVER be honest, will NOT talk about it - and if/when he looks at porn, will ALWAYS lie right to my face, not even an inch away without a blink of his eyes - and not think twice about it!!
The ONLY thing which forced him to concede is that I had ROCK SOLID PROOF that he could NOT deny!!
Also, the keylogger showed me exactly what he was doing, how he was doing it, things saved which I had no idea about, plus his little tricks like changing the time & date.
He was much deeper into this horrid scum than I originally thought.
And I know 100% that it's NOT over. Not by a long shot.
I always knew something was wrong but didn't know what. I found some sights on the computer from time to time and he just lied and made me feel like I was crazy. but I always had a strong "gut" feeling he was. well, I'm not going to react on a "gut" feeling. because in the end,, again , he would just convince me I was nuts, and it would be the same thing over and over again. I had to prove to myself that I wasn't nuts!! and I did. with the nanny cam! seen more than I ever imagined!! yeah... so when I accused him of it. of course, his response was. I was nuts.. I did not go to any porn sites!! when I pulled out the clock (that was really a cam) and showed it to him.... the look on his face.... PRICELESS!!! now!! Lie your way out of that one baby!!
Amen, sensation845!! THAT'S EXACTLY what I'm talkin' about!
I looked into the link/site that you posted - they are very clever and pretty pricey, but I'm going to save up and get one, or two.
I need something that will be able to see over his shoulder as he sits in the recliner, so the small screen of his phone can be clearly seen, and also one for the headboard on his side of the bed, because he gets on his phone early in the morning (before I wake up) and before he goes to sleep.
A real shame that we sometimes have to go to such extent...
Thanks for your responses. I worry about a nanny cam because I am not sure where he sits or how I would capture it... He MB in the shower, I certanly don't wanna see that. My main concern is what he is doing on the computer, if he's talking to anyone, etc... gotta go he just got home..
Our spouses are sex addicts. In my opinion , they are perverts that have no business in a monogamous committed relationship. If they won't commit to wanting to help themselves and and beat their addiction, there is nothing we can to do to stop it. My husband was on Paxil and it was helping immensely but he was unable to climax with masturbation excessively so he quit taking it. He told me our relationship was not worth the side effects of the medication. That was 2-3 years ago. I have caught him, not just popping a DVD in but on the internet looking at live women. I'm not sure if he participates. He admits to me that he's a voyager and pervert and loves sex and I don't give him enough and it's always on my terms. I've been married for 21 years. He's crashed multiple computers, subscribed to a woman for cyber sex, watched porn on his IPhone everywhere--in his car, while fishing, in our home. He used to go to strip bars all the time. I caught him in a relationship with a woman selling beer at the train station 10 years ago. He swore that it was only a friendship and he did not have of sexual encounters with her. I reluctantly believed him then but my gut says he was unfaithful--especially due to his sexual addiction. I don't trust him. I don't want to be his babysitter or his controller. He already gave me herpes 23 years ago after we slept together for the first time. He said he wasn't sure he had it so he never bothered to tell me. He was the 4th (and last) man I had ever slept with. I was never promiscuous and wish I never met this man. I don't want to end up with another disease. I want to be in a healthy respectful monogamous relationship. I can't change him and he doesn't want to change himself. I want out of this marriage so badly.
