Spouses of Prisoners Community Group
Are you the spouse (husband/wife/partner/etc) of someone incarcerated? Each person's experience with having a loved one in prison is different and sometimes the specific support they need varies on their relationship. Parents, siblings, children, spouses... they all experience it a little differently.
It will Be our 1 year anniversary in about 2 weeks and he won't be here to celebrate. This first year has been hard and rocky and his legal troubles happened 6 weeks after we got married;" what timing"?? So with this situation looming over our heads put a black cloud over us only making lovey-dovey moments it seemed far and few in between; a challenge because he just wasn't fun to be around leading up to the day of his surrender. Naturally he was going through his own emotions and anger anticipating having to go in which spilled into our communication as a couple. I did my best to support him anyhow because he is my hubby.
Its been 14 days since he went in and I been through so many emotions like a serious emotional roller coaster. Teary moments hit me out of no where as I think of him and how he isn't here for this and that, I feel mad at him, missing him, sad and then worry about him if he sleep ok and eating ok since he ears no meat only fish which is not on the menu. He has to buy pouches of tuna and sardines w/ crackers. Which how will that keep a big grown man full?? He is in a minimum security facility for mail fraud conviction after a poor choice with a business contract related to his business. He accepts responsibilty as a man should bit hated the plea bargain of less than 18months agreed upon was overided by the judge doubling his sentence. He feels maybe this is an opportunity to build his relationship more with God and outreach to those in there needing ministry and spiritual support and most importantly feels God was trying to get his UNDIVIDED attention.... I just wonder how to have a strong marriage that was already on a rocky foundation while in there and I am here and no marriage counseling is offered in there. I know I need to reach out and get support because otherwise I will stay in this place of depression and sadness. I feel lonely since I am protective of who I share this situation with to avoid judgement and gossip since no one deserves that. So I found this group. I went to see a week after he went in and I don't know how/if I can use to seeing him there and fellow shipping over vending machine food. It was especially hard to leave there without him. I balled like a baby once I got in the car. Praying for comfort and to be continued support to him as his wife......
