Lied to by an SSDI "Investigator" Beware
1sassywriter
Hi Everyone.
I am new here. I had my SSDI hearing in June. It was in july that this man came out to my mom's house which is where I live. He came in and I was lying in bed, still in pjs, when mom told me that this man needed to interview me about identity theft. He said my identity had been stolen and they had broken up this ring and my information was on the computers. So he interviewed me, mainly about my internet and shopping habits (which I don't shop often at all it's actually rare) to see if there was a common link. Oh and one of the guys girlfriends had worked in a medical office, but it was just one. I told him I did not have any providers in the same town as the girlfriend. I answered as best I could. I paused and thought about the questions, trying to remember two years or so back. He asked for my accountant information because I DID have some identity issues during tax time.
Anyway, it turns out it was all a lie.He was some investigator for SSDI. I don't care that they sent an investigaor except that he literally lied in his report. He put things in there that were never talked about because they wouldn't have anything to do with identity theft, like who drives me to my appointments, which is my mom normally.
I feel very violated, because this man came into my home under false pretenses, and had a hidden camera. My mom and grandmother witnessed this man and were also lied to. For me the lies that were told are easily disproved via witness and paper evidence.
I think that this is unscrupulous behavior. Plus it caused me major stress about whether someone was going to pretend to be me and screw up my credit. Then finding out it was all a lie, a scam on this investigators part, I lost it. I was already having a bad week and that was the icing on the cake. So now I am so upset about all of this, that I can't sleep and worst of all my pain has just shot up which is not pleasant.
I can understand investigation a claim. I can understand requesting an IME. I cannot understand, underhanded lying to try and get information that frankly I would freely give.
The reason I found out about this is because I received a "report" with a disk of the video which doesn't show anything damning in my opinion. They want it "entered into evidence" even though I already had my hearing. I do get to respond. Thankfuly I have been represented by a company, so I hope that they have to get involved too.''
I mean this man was in my house for about 30 minutes, did not ask any questions regarding my health or condition. He made outrageous assumptions. He didn't even have the correct town for where I live in this report. He had a town that was several miles away. I don't understand why medical documentation from several providers, two of which were willing to come in and speak at the hearing is not enough for them.
I am just so upset about being lied to. I feel so violated.
Have any of you experienced this? Or something like it?
And mr unscrupulous investigator, if you find this post, I don't care. I have nothing to hide.
Thanks.

If any seems to be stalking you or suspicious persons around your home, notify police. The suspect will have to identify themselves.
I still don't know if this is legal. I guess it must be though I don't see how.
I do know he is no longer working for that company doing investigations. He said so himself. I find that quite interesting personally.
Anyway , thank you all for your responses.
Now it is just the waiting game.

Just because a Long Term DIsabilty finds you disabled now, does not mean that they will find you disabled later on. These companies do routine checks to verify disability including, but not limited to getting copies of your medical records.
