You are no longer eligible for SSDI since you have not worked in so long. But if you are approved on medical you may or may not be eligible for SSI. SSI is for poor people that are disabled. Your income and resources will determine the non medical part of SSI. The ALJ decides the medical part. Your local SSA office determines the non medical part. If I remember correctly, the max amount of monthly SSI is around $803:a month. That is if you have no other income. If you are married, your spouses income and resources count towards your SSI. If you are approved your local SSA office will want receipts for rent, utilities, etc. If someone else pays these expenses for you and they will continue. Your SSI will be reduced by 1/3 monthly. If you are approved, someone from your local SSA office will call you in the next 2-6 weeks to get copies of your bank statements, rent & utility receipts, etc
If you are not approved and you appeal or file again. You really need a attorney. The attorney will only be paid if you are approved. The money is taken out of your back pay. That will be 25 percent of your back pay with a cap at $6,000.
Will there be a Vocational Experts (VE) at your hearing ? If there will be and the VE finds jobs. You need to question the VE until no jobs are found. Hypotheticals the VE finds no jobs to must be backed up by medical and non medical evidence in your file for you to be approved.
